Good Morning!!!! 50F @ 6:00AM.
Some clouds this morning will give way to generally sunny skies for the afternoon. High 58F. Winds NNW at 5 to 10 mph.
Oddly, WU thinks it's foggy outside, and nearby weather stations are reporting temps in the high to mid 30s. It's still dark outside, but with the stadium lights on I don't see any fog out to the limits of the lights, maybe 100'. Guess I'll know more in an hour. I can hear the wind, though, maybe 15 MPH, so that would also argue against fog.

Sorry about the bad weather back east. I think is't the same storm that roared through hear earlier in the week that left behind a couple inches of rain and chilly temps. One of the stronger systems we've seen this year.

I've tried using my phone as a GPS in the truck, Paul, but on sunny days the phone overheats and turns itself off. The Garmin Zumo I've had for years doesn't seem to suffer that kind of problem. I notice that upper trim levels of the '23 Prius offer a wireless CarPlay connection that stores the phone in a vertical wireless charging slot in the center console. While not in the sun, I wonder about overheating in that orientation, too.

Lots of places to find heated clothing, Helo, if you're gonna spend a lot of time in that cold tractor cabin. Wearing a heated jacket is like sitting in the sun at noon on an otherwise chilly day.

Got in a little seat time yesterday spreading gravel where I took out the rocks on the back patio. Got some raking done, but should do some more to fill in ruts. Contractor came over to look at the roller that wouldn't crank to start. Hit the starter housing with a big wrench and it started right up. I'll have to remember that trick. Rolled the new gravel, and the decomposed granite between it and the patio, hoping it stops the rain cutting into it. We'll see.

Town run uneventful. I'm heading out of town for a week so didn't bother buying groceries, but did fuel up the truck. I didn't want to see the price for #2 Diesel, but regular gas was in the mid four dollar range some places. #2 is usually a buck and a half higher here.

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

Near Raphine fun times I’m sure

Raphine is where we looked at a 15 acre lot once, but it was a bit remote from things.

Camera shows vehicle off the road at Greenville exit.
That’s spottswood camera Buppies just above Raphine.

I do remember if I mentioned it here before. Couple years ago I was having lots of foot pain. When in the house. I always went bare footed or wore flat slippers. Switched to Sketchers shoes for in the house. I got some with white sole.
The Dr. tore the insoles out of my sketchers and replaced them. She recommended Vionic or Ecco shoes, when asked about sandals. She also stated that the arch supports on the new insoles only support for 6 months before they get worn out.

US unemployment is not 3.7% - the people on unemployment benefits is 3.7%. Nothing like statistics to say what you want.

that was what Google told me. Ok, what should it be? Apparently/likely a higher number?
My only point was that China's was rising
Their housing prices have dropped. problem is you can't trust anything their government says.
They would of course say the same thing about us.

guess a lot depends upon your definition of employable. After what age?
maybe I should get a job...
If Don can get a hundred bucks an hour driving those farm rides around, well sure makes sense.

I have arch inserts, including Dr Scholls add ons in almost every one of my shoes. Some of the big clunky ugly walkers need nothing.
Lots of arch support.

My iPhone also overheats and shuts down while on the dash. My two 2019 vehicles both have CarPlay and I no longer have that problem. The phone sits in a spot under the dash radio but in front of the floor gear shifter. I saw the side slot in the Prius from the u-tube Drew posted, looks like a good cool safe place.

I use my iPhone in holder mounted to air vent. Never had overheat issue. Maybe air from vent keeps it cool enough.

Tow truck pulling that vehicle off the bank now

I find that I am wearing the Nick's boots most of the time except in wet slushy conditions will wear Muck's until it dries out. The Dr took a gypsum mold and had an insert made that has completely cured my foot problems and I wear those all the time
I had a lot of trouble walking before with significant pain and at least in my case the insert worked like magic.

Good morning/afternoon,
Just finished breakfast, getting a slow start to the day. Overnight low was 35, forecast was for low of 29. Presently 46 with forecast to top out at 51. It has been raining since about 3am and we have received 0.38" so far. It is gloomy, cold and raw out side... plan on spending my day inside.

Dump run got done and cleared up a good deal of space in the garage.

Run to drug store not so successful as they were out of half of the things I needed.

Fuel price for regular just dropped to $3.099.

Yard leaves cleaned up, wifey unit happy.

Gutters cleaned up and doing their job this morning, I'm happy.

Didn't bother with irrigation piping drain as freezing temps not due again for a week and I will take care of it when the weather improves before the freezing temps return.

Today's mission, clean up my shop. When I moved I just unloaded the truck and dumped the stuff. It's time to install the stereo and start putting stuff 'away', where ever that might be.

Hope everyone has a good and safe day.

I’ll be looking closely at all insoles in new shoes. And if there is insufficient arch support I’ll figure on adding a $50 medical insole.

Update on lost dog Tuesday. He was found inside the owner’s house inside a recliner stuck really good. A neighbor with a dog came by their house and the neighbors dog kept going around and around the recliner, then they noticed a little white fur sticking out and freed him. He was stuck so good he couldn’t bark.
The is the second “lost” dog on our street in 2 months that was found inside the house. The dogs look like Ron’s, easy to loose/ hide, very small.

41F, wet, with haze @ 10:30, heading up to a high of around 43F for the day. Had some rain overnight, LWS reports 0.36".

We worked down in the basement until a little after 22:00.

Got the ashes emptied out of the wood burner.

Section of shelving along the south wall in the utility room disconnected from the section that runs along the east wall and moved out of the way. Also disassembled another section from it after I moved it so that it takes up less room.

Woman did the vacuuming behind it, as well as the wall and up in the floor joists. Will need to grab the work lights out of the garage today and take those down so we can really see up in the joists to get all the cobwebs.

Started unloading the section of shelving that runs along the east wall so it can be partially disassembled to make a little more room to work.

Woman handled moving a lot of the stuff into the family/rec room, discovered old-timey sewing machines are quite heavy ... had to use the two wheeler. I think we have around 5 or 6 of various vintages ... probably should try and figure out a fair value and post them for sale online so they can find a good home. We could use the space and a little extra cash never hurts ... ;)

Distance from the floor to the bottom of the ceiling joists is around 88" to 89" ... so panels will have to be cut down before they are glued up.

Suggested to The Woman that since we are into that area, now might be a good time to handle that little trickle leak on the water softener (before we go putting up insulation and a stud wall with sheetrock) that happens when it is recharging (which occurs roughly every 3 - to 5 days) ...

At that point I got to hear all the complaints about having too many projects going on and starting something else before one thing was finished ...

Fixing it would require (at a minimum) rebuilding the valve mechanism (which sounds completely ominous to someone with little mechanical ability I'm sure) ... but I imagine it is within my capabilities ... ;)

A little further discussion on that yielded a "But the leak will have to be fixed ..."

Yeah, ok ... how do you figure that's going to happen ... without rebuilding the part that is leaking and replacing the seals?

Silence ... followed by a suggestion to just replace the entire softener ($$$)

Fact of the matter is the entire west wall is a mess, as far as putting up insulation and framing it in. Lots of items (plumbing, water supply, stationary tubs, electric service and panels, drain line from the washer upstairs) will need to relocated/replumbed.

Will probably just go ahead and frame around the electric panels though and not mess with trying to relocate those ... although replacing the original 100 amp panel (which is now a sub panel is tempting)

She did bring down that last dahlia (it's "Hers" ... She actually bought it ... ;)) and got it hosed off in the stationary tubs. Will likely need some pruning today before it's put in storage.

On a slightly more positive note, Woman's doctor's appointment yesterday went fairly well: She got her flu shot and got one of her ears cleaned out and reports that it feels somewhat better now. Did not get any report on the Hallux Valgus situation, figure that's a subject for discussion today. Hopefully She got a referral to a podiatrist.

She planned on making her always delicious enchiladas yesterday but the hamburger hadn't fully thawed and She couldn't locate Her recipe. Hopefully that will occur today.

Agenda for today:

Get the work lights, chop saw, and extension cord moved downstairs from the garage, possibly some other tools as well.

Finish cleaning any cobwebs up in the joists along south wall.

Clean up the efflorescence on the concrete (mostly around the bottom of the wall)

Trim the 2" foam board panels to length.

If not raining, haul ashes out to the woods and dump those.

See if I can get the valves to water supply for the kitchen and washer shut off and drain the lines, then attempt to loosen the packing nut on the bibs up in the room where the washer and dryer are located and free up the valves there.

Possibly haircut later.

Plus whatever else comes up.

Hope everyone has a good Thursday ... (y)

Don, I ordered the Nick's boots with high arc support. I think they had 3 levels of arc support to choose from. Also they sent me a pair of try out boots to check the fit before making the boots. Only down side is it takes 2 or 3 months to get them. But hey are sooo worth it. Most comfortable boots I have ever had

Good morning! 45 now and drizzling. Likely the high for today. Hopefully it stops raining, we need to go to the feed mill and get critter food.

Waiting for a front end alignment done. Got the passport photo taken. They checked the application and it seems everything is filled out correctly.

Never had an issue with the iPhone overheating in the truck. But riding the bike with the phone in my jacket pocket can be an issue.

Got the free load of firewood unloaded and stacked. Appears to be a bit green, so likely next years wood. Was close to a cord.

Hope everyone being affected by the winter weather rides it out ok. Forecast for Christmas looks a bit chilly.

Everyone stay safe out there!
