successful trip to garden before the rains come.
lot of split radishes

now to make up some small xmas presents for gardening friends, recycling some squash seeds
don't need many seeds to grow a good number of squash, and then if one saves seeds, you can have enough squash to feed the county
the next year if you had the room. Seeds beget seeds.

there is so much competition for labor today that anyone working in a Jiffy Lube for 15 bucks an hour is likely not the most precise wrench in the tool box.
The problem is when they break stuff, make a simple job terrible. For a few years I paid claims for a chain of lube shops.
These were not SAE (ASME?) mechanics by any stretch of the imagination. So it's been 40 years since I used a chain oil shop. But they are still out there.

pretty sure you can still get a thirty dollar oil change.
Having worked years ago as a mechanic in a place with a few employees I can tell you customers would be appalled at some of what was going on. We were 3 apprentices 15 to 16 years old that always had a competition on who could drive the fasted in over the pit making a 90 degree turn just before turning over it. I think I was in the lead until one of the apprentices screwed it up in a new Mercedes that wound up sideways down in the pit. Game over!!!

Any "Adventure Farms" where you are retiring to?

47˚F and still dropping. Ron you can close the door NOW!

Don’t know, probably are some. Buppies might put me to work on a paver.

I told my neighbor here I might have to help him do plumbing. He’s having a hard time getting employees.

It is an astonishing 70F out now and feels like a tropical 100 percent humidity.

lot of warm air up from the South with this system, 69 out now

new computer speakers showed up, simple to hook up, hugely different sound, funny these remind me more of Bose speakers
with that smooth forceful midrange, and very little high end. A lot more music detail is coming out though, much bigger sound stage.
I paid more for real walnut cabinets; they look like they need a coat of oil.

there is an HDMI hookup and a USB one. I used the USB. Any advantages to one over the other?

Each speaker is self powered with 50 watts RMS. It got pretty loud, until my ears had problems.

about .78 rain so far. More tonight.

might just have to get into a bowl of ice cream. I'll raise a spoon to you Thomas.

Is this true? I was talking to him as late as yesterday I think?

Just realized I missed lunch, so grabbed a bowl of soup.
Been busy running numbers on retirement again. Other than reducing fuel usage, don’t see many places to cut expenses in order to go full retirement. Might have to look for a tractor driving job.
Without starting SS early, I’ll have to contribute from my retirement nest. Course about 20% to go towards taxes.

No money in my calculations for a cabin yet.

Hasn’t rained in awhile. 1.17”

Dennis, running those number can be interesting exercise. Don’t know how many times I’ve run them, before, during, & after. Likely a very important consideration for young guys is health insurance costs. We opted to take SS at 62 with goal to payoff house. Guess we are as close to debt free as we can. While I sometimes “drool” over what the full amount would be, reality is that extra little bit wouldn’t contribute to necessities, most likely be spent foolishly or enlarge the inheritance. But I sure don’t miss the days when the month outlasted the bank account.

Good (Saturday) morning. Overnight Low was 10C and it's presently 15.5C, which is the predicted High for the day. There was 0.3mm in the gauge at 0900 and it's overcast with a brisk Southerly wind. Heavy rain it called for the next couple of days <sigh>.

All that is planned for today is to continue stacking wood in the afternoon.

That's about it, take care all.

A wonderful 2" rain today. But Ron must not have heard me when I said "close the door"! 43˚F and falling. We are suppose to be 50 miles outside of the freeze zone but with this strong North wind and temps continuing to drop, I don't know anymore, I have lost confidence in the guessers. I had to turn on the truck seat warmers when I took Whipper for her evening walk at the trail head.

The "Farm" closed this morning when the cold wet front blew in. I bet the employees that were scheduled today were glad about that.
