Bought a Ford 2000. Has a bit of blow by so I’m easing into this project as I am not sure what the engine condition is.

It runs well, drives well; but the 3 point lift only raises 8 inches at the pivot balls. The lowest level is 14” and it raises to 22”.

Is this a normal lift amount? I bought this to mate with a Ford 515 sickle mower for around ponds. The 515 has a “balance spring linkage” and I’m not sure if this lift radius will work.

Any input is welcome. Thank you.

Also, the PTO clutch seems to be out as the PTO will not turn when the clutch is released.

With the tractor off and the 3pt drop down valve wide open, try to pick up the lift arms and see if you get the same range of motion - if you are binding up or have a larger range of motion by hand it can point more to what the problem is or if the short stroke is just the nature of this particular beast

Valve wide open?
So, lever all the way down?
Thx,

The valve should be wide open but I don't think the lever position really matters if the tractor is off and the three-point is all the way down. There's no down pressure cylinder on these tractors so the three-point is just a single acting ram. You should be able to pick up the lower arms of the three-point by hand from the lowest position and raise them to the highest position without any more resistance than the weight of the arms themselves

Thank you. I will try this on Thursday afternoon when I get back down to the farm.
