I also should mention the straps on the truck are 1" commercial grade rated at 2300 pounds each. They are much thicker than cheap 1" straps. They are expensive but it's worth it because they fit the anchor points in the truck bed. And it's not squatting. I don't like how those 2500HDs look up high with the square wheel arches and the nose down slope. So I put drop shackles on the rear to level it and an autolevelling air bag setup so it won't bottom out when loaded.it sits the same empty. It handled that load just fine. I stopped at a state scale that was closed on the way home and the truck was under the GRAW and right at capacity on the trailer.

That rear-steer combine on the bridge is funny. What a pickle, no room to steer away from the edge.

Crank the wheel hard to one side, then the other to push the back end away from the wall using the steering, then back up until the front end clears.

Given that the pin doesn't actually carry any of the force of the jaw trying to open, it should be fine as a temporary fix...
I would have probably twisted the ends together though so there is no way for it to walk out.

On my pintle hitch it came with a big cotter pin for some reason, I spread the ends a little so it's springy, works fine, as said that's just a safety since the latch is spring loaded... I haven't found a pin I like so I just keep using the cotter pin...

Here is a little lesson on how to transport flammable material - not in a backpack while being pursued by police:

WATCH: Cops Tase Fleeing Felon, He Explodes Into a Human Fireball

This reminds me of something I recently saw in my old hometown weekly newspaper. They bring back a few stories from the archives. It seems in 1927 there was a fatal motorcycle accident. The victim had stolen some nitroglycerin and hit a bump on the road, detonating the nitro. The story didn't go into detail on the results but said it did blow a hole in the concrete highway.
