10 speed tranny in my 2020 yukon is nice..
2017 yukon had a lemon trans. I don't think I've ever heard about issues with the 10 speed... but the 6,7, and 8 speeds were not up to par.

While not a GM the ZF 8 speed in my Ram 2500 is smooth and seems to have a good reputation. I let you know in say 10 years if I still think that.

I skip all them after the 4L80e until this one.

Good news. I've been driving on the zf8 speed for 10 years and 70k on one, 200k on another, and 40k on my last. It's legitimate. It is truly the worlds best automatic transmission.

Thanks for the good report.

Are you referring to the 6 speed in the half ton trucks? The 3/4 ton I bough has a 6 speed, but I believe it is different than what is in the half tons (2015).
All of the GM 6 speeds are a bit problematic. They need specific trans tunes and a good convertor to eliminate the problem. A lot of the "hot rod" guys that are pushing them were puzzled for a long time, I can't remember who, but someone on one of the pages finally found the issue: GM programming allows slippage when the TC "locks up" during first engagement, AND all the time. That convertor is never actually locked. Eventually the convertor craps the bed and takes the transmission with it. Once the tuning is solved, they are pretty darn bulletproof.

Well I can say for sure this 2020 Ram 2500 with a 6.4 and 8 speed is way nicer towing with than my 2000 Chevy 6.0 4L80E.

Towed it for about 40 miles round trip.

The 6.4 with 4.10s did great, but it convinced me to keep the stock exhaust.

I may also need a bigger trailer the TC45 with loader and 917 flail used every inch the flat deck on my 18’ dovetail (16’ is flat).
