I am..... All the blowing on here extolling the virtues, I want to experience that myself but, as a good citizen of this country, I want someone else to pay for it so I can reap the rewards. it's the American way today...
It more a way to bend the masses to the political will of the time... at least my thinking on incentives.

Not all panels are subsidized.... mine were in boxes bought in 2008 and came with the house purchase and I quicky set to get them up and producing.

I could take the same number of modern panels and more than double my production in the same footprint...

Since installed I always produce more than I use...
I agree, i paid for the panels on my motorhome but I was speaking of the array of panels people are getting subsidized for.

Being done everyday in DC anyway. All the supposedly knowledgeable posters on here need to get their collective wallets out and buy me a system and I'll even let the more adventurous posters install it for me.

Wouldn't it be the same when utilities provide incentives and rebates?

Currently electric utility is offering a rebate for using less electricity during projected shortfalls in addition to existing tiered rates for peek and off peek.

Water company gives out hose nozzle and low flow shower heads and toilet rebates.

Another program give away was a single LED to each residential customer...

When you can't force people to do something or it takes too long incentives and surcharges are means of controlling the masses.

Some neighborhoods are getting free private sewer lateral replacements because aging mains overflow into the creek...

With some mains 30+ feet under the road it was determined to be cost effective to replace laterals at the same time the roads were being dug up... every single one of my neighbors got free private lateral replacement and I didn't... When I bought I knew the old Orangeburg pipe was in bad shape so I said the right thing is to pay to replace to the tune of $3300... being pro active cost me but I can't predict the future.
Not in my opinion. The utilities are not using taxpayer collected funds to incentivize.

Not at all political to me. In fact, I just want a system for free so I do can be an EV and solar junkie. I will say I do have a set of panels and charge controller on my RV that I paid for which is another reason I want someone else to pay for and install an array on my barn. I know what good panels and charge controllers cost.

Kind of I guess...

PGE is a private company but sewer is city owned and maintained and water is in between in that it is a municipal utility district...

With no one being forced to buy one why is current demand outstripping their availability?
Also, why are people paying exorbitant prices for EV's when the purpose is to get off of petrol? I bought my Chevy Bolt EV for $32K this May and then got a $5K rebate from GM because the 2023 prices were cut by that amount.
I'm not paying $50k-$100k for an EV since that amount would buy me a LOT of gas/diesel.

One thing I've learned in life, if a person gets tax credits, subsidies, help along the way they deserve it. Of someone else gets those same tax credits, subsidies, help along the way they're good for nothing welfare queens taking advantage of the system. Lol
If you get tax credits then you are paying taxes, and probably lot of it.
If you get welfare and stay on welfare indefinitely then you are taking advantage of the system.
