When i was a kid, i started out building a 10" mirror. The grinding was very interesting and using interference patterns to check the grind etc. I was working picking zucchini squash getting paid penny a pound, to try to get enough money together to send it in to be "silvered" actually i think it was aluminum actually. Also bought a few 2nd hand eye pieces, built wooden tube. Needed a diagonal for reflecting the image up into eye piece. Also hadn't worked out the stand yet. I never finished it though unfortunately.
