When i was a kid, i started out building a 10" mirror. The grinding was very interesting and using interference patterns to check the grind etc. I was working picking zucchini squash getting paid penny a pound, to try to get enough money together to send it in to be "silvered" actually i think it was aluminum actually. Also bought a few 2nd hand eye pieces, built wooden tube. Needed a diagonal for reflecting the image up into eye piece. Also hadn't worked out the stand yet. I never finished it though unfortunately.

I don't see anything wrong with people stating their own ideas or beliefs be it political or religious.......just as long as they don't get belligerent and/or ....ad naausem. And it does add some vigor to threads. It does seem to me that some such threads are necessarily involved in politics....or a statement of religious beliefs...e.g. one could question the spending of large amounts of monies to support things like the JWST.

BTW, when I was in college I built my own refracting telescope and was so excitied when I saw the moons around Jupiter and BTW the name "Jupiter" was the Roman's tribute to that planet ...that of the greatest of their "Gods".

but, tomorrow NASA will attempt to launch Artemis 1 unmanned SLS to the moon on a ~42 day mission at 8:33 eastern time.

Here is hoping they finally have all the bugs out of this system... Lets Go back to the Moon.
