James Webb Space Telescope begins historic mission

With the above philosophy we would still be using stone tools...!
The universe is expanding and has been since its beginning...or as long as man has been observing it...
Considering how old the Earth is...and how short of time humans have existed...we've come a long way in a relatively short time...!

I love the Webb and other tools to see how the universe works. Maybe someone gave us a head to theorize and explore for answers.

Or it proves we're the worst of the worst and were cast out as far as possible from everything else beyond range of any hope of contact ever again.
Or we haven't looked in the right place, at the tight time. with the correct receiver for the signal being sent.

I recall the comparison of dipping a cup in the ocean, and when no fish are seen in it, assuming there are no fish in the ocean at all.

That's where we are with SETI at this point in history.
We need to be patient in our search.

Speaking of basic science. Watch live feed of NASA's SLS Moon mega rocket at Kennedy Space Center waiting for launch to the Moon. Launch is scheduled on Monday, August 29 at 8:33 a.m. EDT (1333 UTC).

The space telescopes are great and they get a lot of publicity...but...IMO what is just as amazing as the expanse of the universe is the world (other universe) that is not so easy to see or photograph and that is the subatomic world...who knows what it might actually looks like?...It's likely a lot busier world than we think...!
There may be nothing out there now. The light we see is billions of years old. The light from the nearest star in our own galaxy takes more than four years to get here. It's all in the past. We all may be dead and just don't know it yet. :cautious:

I do not believe in THE Big Bang, as in a singular event. Rather what some consider as so, is simply one of many that have occurred and re-occurred. All that stuff gets blasted out, scatters, re-collects at other places, recompresses and it starts again. WE do not know how many, how far back, or where. WE have no sense of those concepts beyond what WE have observed. I do NOT believe in a single beginning or end of 'time' or 'space'. I believe it 'just is' and that we will never be able to comprehend it on any real basis.

The sum total of what WE think we know would not fill a small portion of the pointy end of a microscopic pin stuck in the wall of the great library of the universe.

And since we all know that religion is not a topic for the main boards, are some of you asking for this thread to be moved to the Front Porch?
Calm down Skippy. You just outlined your specific beliefs. Then you criticized us for outlining ours.
