TC30 cracked rear axle housing

Very nice work.

Not many who own tractors that size have the capability to tackle such a repair and would have been at the mercy of dealer shop rates

Having worked for a NH dealer, I replaced a couple of axle housing. Used an engine hoist with no issues. Don't remember what I used for a socket. May have been a NH supplied dealer tool. Sounds like you did it with no serious issues. Good Job.

Yes, new OEM axle housing (axle is original). I ordered from Messick's and it shipped directly from New Holland to me.

Thanks. I think most people could do this with hand tools, a bench-mounted vise, and something to man-handle the housing and ROPS; nothing needed in the way of precision or measurement. I used a press to free up the slightly seized up outer bearing and seal, but only because I had it handy; otherwise a vise would've done the trick. No offense to azbinder, but most of the work to do something like this is just put it back the way you found it, with the factory manual for the torques, diagrams, and general instructions.

Thanks. Engine hoist would've worked, but I had the transmission jack and it seemed well suited for the job.
