Trying out those big bulk firewood bags

I had a wake up call today. Went out to cut firewood from a stack of logs. Slipped while saw was running as I finished a cut. I threw the saw as I fell and twisted my back. I was wearing chaps so a running saw may not have have been too dangerous but better safe than sorry.

I hate chaps but wear them.
I have had to toss more than one saw when I was unsure of where each of us would land. Very rare for me but shet happens.

I like to cut in the winter/spring and our marine climate allows that. I seldom get hot while working.

I wear chaps most of the time, certainly when cutting in a pile.

Oh, 86 degrees... nice and cool!! :D :) ;)

Very humid 86 to me must be like 2' of snow in Colorado to you I guess. Good thing we're all different and can find a place if we're lucky.

I've had them in the past and have thought about going back to them. One thing that I like about chaps though is that you can easily take them off on hot days, when you aren't running the saw.

That's what I like. I also wear shorts under my wrap around chaps in the summer. Especially working where it is fairly open. A little air circulation helps a lot. The down side is that the bugs think it's nice too. The mosquitoes and deer flies don't bother me too much when the saw is running but I have to watch for ticks.

You would have to live in Vermont, or at least spend some time there to understand the punishment of eating flavored high fructose corn syrup while everybody else is enjoying something edible. :D
Oh I understand, and I only use real maple syrup on my pancakes!

I may be switching back to chainsaw pants when my present chaps are due for replacement. I wore some Husqvarna pants for a few years. They were bulky, but worked OK. Some of the newer designs out now look a lot more comfortable, and may be cooler than chaps in hot weather. I'm not really in to the "form fitting" look of them, but I'm not picking clothing for a fashion show. If they are comfortable in hot weather, and protect well, they can make them in pink with lace trim for all I care.
Heck, I only wear mine because they are orange!!

Well trust me we get the humidity as well... I do not do a lot of cutting in the summer here... on a rare occasion if needed!

And dont even talk about that nasty place!! 😬

One PITA part of chaps is the loops get caught on stuff when getting in and out of the tractor. Spinner knob on wheel and the controls under the seat. If I tighten the loops up, then they seem too tight and affect mobility. Never hear of chainsaw pants so that is something to look into.
