We don't even use cash anymore. I forgot the feel of it, use to have wads of it when traveling. Customs did not like that. LOL.

I came across a ten spot the other day, it was lost in my wallet, which I also rarely use.

I imagine in a few years, digital everything for me.

Yea, almost embarrassing. The few times we maybe in a situation warranting cash and I rarely have any. Sometimes I’m saved if Sophie is with me as she always has some in her purse, but that doesn’t always work as I’m not likely to drop a $20 someplace where change isn’t apparent.

The little local bank I used for thirty years until they closed, has had remote deposit for at least 10-15 years. I do carry an ATM card on the spending account and rarely have cash. I wrote 7 checks last year.

   / Good morning!!!! #151,503
I use my debit card for most things, but I carry $20-$50 on me for places I don't want to use the debit card...like getting a coffee or snack

I hope it is very successful!

We basically use our debit card for everything, but now we are using the credit card with 'rewards' or cash back on purchases. It gets paid in full every month, so no interest.

We write one check a month.... to the water company. They charge an additional $3 to use a debit or credit card. It's bad enough that $40 out of $100 on the bill is for "admin fees, meter fee, and maintenance fee ". I'm not going to give them another $3.... it's just principle....

   / Good morning!!!! #151,507
I do not use debt (unless a few times by mistake) always make sure to use credit. Safer.

If I was using a debit card, I would keep a minimum of cash in that account, and transfer cash in as needed. A debit card in the wrong hands can be a disaster.

Got a few little things done outside, by then the grandsons were here with their dad. Enjoyed a couple of pizzas and an Oreo ice cream cake. Hit the spot. The GS was excited when he opened his new RC helicopter.

Unfortunately, the wind decided to again become extreme and kick up a really big dust storm that we watched coming from about 10 miles away. We set up the 'copter and got everything charged up. I'll take it out with him tomorrow.

He fell back to his other gift.... a Lego excavator. Should keep him busy at least for a few minutes until he has it built.

The wind broke a few branches, so cleanup tomorrow morning. The heat will continue until Friday. Temps dropping back to upper 80's and chance of T-storms. The weather guessers are saying our 'monsoon season' should start next week. I'm not holding my breath... heard that story before, multiple times.

Good evening all. 80ºF for the start, light breeze, clear sky. Moderate wind with strong gusts, clear sky all day, and high temp was 96ºF, HI 103ºF. Bike ride to start day, then mow back yard while golf course closed. After lunch maintenance on Peugeot, change pedals, they were making noise, lube chain, clean wheel rims to reduce brake squeak, and put locktite on jam nut for bottom bracket. Had to finish maintenance after nap and dinner.
Ted any chance there is some pollen you are reacting to with the cough. Please wish GS Happy Birthday. For comparison here 8:30 89ºF.

i'm now feeling really Old School

- I have a FLIP Phone (preference) that is on a Pay As You Go "plan" - no internet, no data, no texting. I pay $100 + $12 = $112 for the year ... of my 400 minutes last that long. So far, I have more than half of that still available after 9 months. I shove it in my pocket, keeping my hands free. Basically I use it to see if we need milk ? to check what Timmies we are meeting at for coffee, and occasionally it rings and I answer.
- my home office uses a desktop computer, and a residential phone line

I do taxes / bookkeeping from my home office, and I dislike the option of cheque deposits by cell phone. The cheques to not look "cancelled" so it messes with my calculations when doing someone's "books". Several times I have called a client to say ... do you realize that you have a $3500 cheque sitting here that will expire in 3 weeks (ie: after 6 months)? - oh ya, I deposited that ... uggh

I rarely carry cash - when I sell eggs, I keep the cash so that when I get to the gas station, I can stay in the car and let the attendant do the fill (less stress on my knee, getting in /out of vehicle.
my s, so like many others ... I seldom ever walk into the building.

I do not use a credit card ... I do pay wife's credit card down regularly

I drive a '93 Silverado, a '90 Tracker, and my classic / collector cars ('79 El Camino, '64 El Camino project) ... my wife has the nice ride, a 2016 Nissan Murano Platinum SUV

My '64 El Camino has a radio, and an 8-track car stereo

I still listen to CDs and have vinyl albums ... nothing for the cell phone though

Pretty Boring, I know. :)

BUT, I have a fairly new Kubota :) That makes the old stuff worth keeping.

Today was not the best of mornings and seems to trending rather than the exception…

I open the medical center at 3:30 am and the general rif-raf, crime etc. has never been this bad over my 31+ years.

This morning after clearing doorways get a call from one of our longtime nurses asking for escort in… a guy at 5:50 am is approaching her with his pants down masterbating in his own version of la la land with a malt liquor in the other hand.

Twenty minutes later a Street person walks in with a blade attempting to steal anything she can get her hands on… the altercation left my knee and wrist banged up as she fled with $10 worth of supplies but I was able to protect patient information.

Unless in progress you are very much on your own as far as 911.

Maybe this is why people retire?

Big thunderstorms are moving through just to the south/southwest of us. Tornado warnings were allowed to expire.

NWS was calling for possible winds of up to 75 mph and 1 1/2” hail.

Actual high wind speed was clocked at 91 mph, with quarter-sized hail reported and rainfall rates of over 8” per hour.

Most of that will miss us, but Rich is probably getting hammered right now from the looks of the radar.

Next round is percolating up in MI, due in here between 03:00 and 06:00.

I managed to get most of the plants moved into the garage before it got here.

Good late arvo and I'm back from the 'sign hunt'. Good LORD it was a cold (for this part of Tassie) morning at -2.4C + frost, and it only warmed up to 0.8C at 1000 when I headed off on my road trip. But I took my time watching for any icy patches along the coastal highway. It mostly warmed up, slowly, to 11C. It was clear sky and calm during the day but is now beginning to cloud over... the BoM is predicting an overnight low of 4C so this Antarctic blast looks to be over.

It was a very pleasant drive (no 'twits' on the road) and I did find the signs. Home by 1430 and my 'banked' fire in the woodheater was still going strong. Penelope the pussybeast was nonplussed with my being gone, even though I'd shut her in the house whilst I was away.

Tomorrow is 'into town day' for mail & groceries.

Take care all.
