Hi,

I need to change my Ford 4600 fan belt, but there is a linkage between the motor fly wheel and the hydraulic pump in front of the tractor. I do see the bolts heads for that shaft on the fly wheel, but I am wondering if I run into a hassle trying to separate the shaft from the flywheel. For example, will the shaft move freely afterward or will I have to dismantle the hydraulic pump anyway to pass the new belt?

If too complicated I'll call the mechanic.

You should be able to unbolt the pump and move it forward 1/2-3/4" to gain clearance. Also, you can unbolt the 4 bolts on the front pulley and push the square star drive forward to gain clearance

Just do a Power Twist V-Belt. Save a lot of headache.

I did one on my 5000 fairly recently, same setup.
1. Take a pair of locking pliers, and grip onto the shaft between the pump and crank pulley adapter.
2. Using a hammer, tap the side of the pliers moving the shaft out of the adapter, towards the pump. It won’t come all the way out, you just want to make some room.
3. Unbolt the pump from the bolster, and undo the pressure side line. There’s enough flex in the supply line to make do with it on and it saves the mess.
4. Pull the pump back until the pulley is out of the shaft.
5. Tip the pump down so the shaft points up and remove it.

Though you can probably skip that last step.

You will need to remove the radiator to do this, which necessitates the removal of the nose cone and hood.

Bit of a job, but not hard, just time consuming.
