Good morning!!!!

57F and "Fair" @ 09:15, heading up to a high of 73F for the day.

Hopper feeder refilled yesterday afternoon, also put up pole for nyjer feeders and got both of them washed out and refilled. Going to move the hopper feeder over to the west side

Small veggie plants watered and moved out of the garage to get a little sun.

Got top and sides of new frame for the soil screen screwed together, still have to screw the two inboard pieces in place. Need to locate my Fat Max tape to mark for them.

Half of the front lawn mowed, will finish that up today ... probably later this afternoon - after it has had a chance to dry up further.

Started cleaning up leaves over on the west planting bed. The Woman had commented previously when she had been poking around over there at how thick they were.

Yup ... pretty thick. Don't think I'll be doing that again ... while it certainly works well to suppress weed growth, it's a PITA to clean up.

Two dump cart loads of leaves taken up to the compost pile.

Dug out one of the day lily clumps, split it, and then planted it around that one redbud tree - which appears to be doing very well - over on the west side. Tried to use the hose to wash the dirt off the roots to separate them ... was too involved and taking too long so I finally just ended up splitting them with the machete. Added more mulch once I had them watered in.

Took the extra leftover mulch from the two bags I opened for that and started placing it on the east side planting bed. Have some hosta I want to dig up and plant over there before before we I too carried away with the mulching though.

Did some raking of the planting bed in the 2nd circle where the Coral Bells are planted. Was going to mulch it, but like the east side planting bed, it needs some hosta planted there before I do.

Plans for today:

Order a seal and a couple of grommets I need to finish the Kubota. It will start sucking big time in fairly short order to not have the Kubota available for use, so will try to devote some time in the evenings once the sun goes down to get it finished up. Worst case scenario is that they're calling for rain next Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.

Order landscape fabric for the garden from Amazon.

Place small order with Menards (more planting trays, parts for track lighting)

Finish the soil screen frame assembly.

Cut some more chicken wire for plant guards.

Hosta dug and planted, also some of the new hosta varieties planted.

Finish mowing front lawn and down here around the house.

Refrigerator clean out and trash taken up to the road.

Hopefully coax The Woman out so She can get "first use" on her new gear (then I can use them ... ;) )

Hope our GM'ers with health issues are on the mend and everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe Monday ... (y)

64°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 85° today.

F-150 went to it's new home on Saturday. Can't say I'm going to miss that truck. Still not sure what we'll replace it with, but likely something mid-size.

Finally got a local hauling company rep to come out to give us an estimate on new rock for the driveway. Guy said he was having one of his guys come by last week, but it never happened. Called him again Saturday morning, and he came by himself about an hour later. I really dislike having to babysit adults. Either you want the business or you don't.

Wife originally wanted me to bring home dinner yesterday for Mother's Day, then decided at the last minute that she wanted to go out somewhere. First option was Olive Garden, but there was a two hour wait there. So, we looked across the highway and saw only a few cars in the Friday's parking lot. We went there instead. She had a couple of bloody marys with her dinner, and was a silly girl the rest of the evening.

Sounds like your recovery is going well, Roy. Stay at it.

Hope you're doing better, Buppies. That looks like it was painful.

On the subject of losing parents, my Father died in 1989 at age 57, when I was 22. My Mother died in 2011 at age 77.

66°F and .02 inches rain. Dare we hope for a dryer day?

Frustrating to report, but the new parts did not fix the Scag. More troubleshooting needed.

Need to get Soph a Dr appnt as she has what appears to be an infection on back of her hand, possibly from a bug bite. Noticed it Thu, thought it better Fri but definitely worsened over weekend.

Zoom Happy Hour this afternoon. Was kinda hoping to get back to normal, but our weekly reported alligator numbers have been on the rise.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

David, if Sophie gardens, be careful with cuts. SIL got septic from one.
probably one of those giant pineapple bugs got her, because she was so sweet...

got my bite guard and a fair price for some bonding work to fix chipped teeth.
That sort of surprised me. Will look into that later this year.

friend stopped over, picked radishes, now I have to go pick a few more. I forgot to get the planting cages despite going in the hardware store,
so many things to distract...tomorrow for sure. Have some repotting to do including an orchid. Problem is it's supposed to go into an orchid pot with holes in it, for air.
Why orchids need air on their roots I clearly don't know. Since this orchid actually rebloomed for me, which none have ever done before, I'm trying to thank it by
repotting in the correct size pot.
I wonder if an orchid is related to an air plant.
I'll be happy if I don't kill the plant mucking with it.

blue sky and lovely out.

after being gone for six months with no communication, the person I replaced at church
surfaced this past week, mostly ok. Multiple strokes, months in hospital. Driving again, which is huge.
meeting her for coffee at New Hope diner tomorrow afternoon. This should be interesting.

I'm going out to dig some more radishes as I promised my friend radishes when I saw her tomorrow.
I wish I had thought of that before I gave the patch I good picking earlier, forgetting those radishes were sort of promised.
These radishes are smaller and much more colorful than store radishes. Lot more juice inside and mild.

I'm told the greens are pretty good cooked or perhaps chopped up in a salad. Never tried it. I'm a chicken... :sneaky:

We had frost this morning.

We are getting 40s at night and mid 60’s today. My son in Front Royal will be looking at the third straight morning of low to mid 20’s.
I’m still fighting this upper respiratory infection. Fox told me last Wednesday that he didn’t think I needed antibiotic, but he gave a script to have filled in case I got worse. I started them this morning. Producing dark green mucus with blood tinges. I don’t feel horrible, if roughly equate it to walking pneumonia. Functional but not great.

Buppies, Roy, you two are in my prayers.

Toppop, hope the antibiotic knocks it out quick.

repotted a couple of large flower pots after drilling bottoms to make sure they drained
then used Makita shrub trimmer to do the end of the lane; forsythia grows so fast part of it was already blocking sight where it shouldn't.
Lastly, found another batch of radishes; have to leave them alone for awhile, let the little babies grow.

was fun and relaxing sitting out on bench in back yard, under the warm sun, watching the hummingbirds come up to the feeder. Brown on one, green on another, not at same time
Most of my neighbors live in relatively deep woods so having this big sunny spot for a garden is great.

front yard a potpouri of dandelion stalks, having everything else done, just might ride the mower and stay away from the wet parts.

could not find 1/4x1 self tapping screw for the arm rest kit on the lawn mower. 5 screws
went in wonderfully. 6th shot out of fingers and landed in never never land in tall grass. Never to be found, unless sadly by a tire.
TruValue has no such screw so I settled for a 14mmx1.25 instead. Not as thick, little deeper. This whole thing was a miracle it worked since the retention clips they provided did not insert
anywhere on this model. Maybe on another model? I hand tightened all these screws carefully, making sure not to overtighten but still firm. Mower vibrates a lot, need to check them once in a while. Nice having arm rests. Elevated foot rests would be nice. Perhaps a massaging seat...

oh, I hear a mower firing up. And so it begins...wonder how many people get stuck today after three inches of rain.
My landscaper didn't even roll mower trucks today, waiting a day it seems. Surprising how fast this was sucked up, thanks by being steady and gentle for two days straight.
Ground had time to absorb it.
Still squishy in spots.
Ted, if only I could send you a little squishy...
This was a perfect rain for a farmer, soaking over days instead of a downpour that washes away seed.
