57F and "Fair" @ 09:15, heading up to a high of 73F for the day.
Hopper feeder refilled yesterday afternoon, also put up pole for nyjer feeders and got both of them washed out and refilled. Going to move the hopper feeder over to the west side
Small veggie plants watered and moved out of the garage to get a little sun.
Got top and sides of new frame for the soil screen screwed together, still have to screw the two inboard pieces in place. Need to locate my Fat Max tape to mark for them.
Half of the front lawn mowed, will finish that up today ... probably later this afternoon - after it has had a chance to dry up further.
Started cleaning up leaves over on the west planting bed. The Woman had commented previously when she had been poking around over there at how thick they were.
Yup ... pretty thick. Don't think I'll be doing that again ... while it certainly works well to suppress weed growth, it's a PITA to clean up.
Two dump cart loads of leaves taken up to the compost pile.
Dug out one of the day lily clumps, split it, and then planted it around that one redbud tree - which appears to be doing very well - over on the west side. Tried to use the hose to wash the dirt off the roots to separate them ... was too involved and taking too long so I finally just ended up splitting them with the machete. Added more mulch once I had them watered in.
Took the extra leftover mulch from the two bags I opened for that and started placing it on the east side planting bed. Have some hosta I want to dig up and plant over there before before we I too carried away with the mulching though.
Did some raking of the planting bed in the 2nd circle where the Coral Bells are planted. Was going to mulch it, but like the east side planting bed, it needs some hosta planted there before I do.
Plans for today:
Order a seal and a couple of grommets I need to finish the Kubota. It will start sucking big time in fairly short order to not have the Kubota available for use, so will try to devote some time in the evenings once the sun goes down to get it finished up. Worst case scenario is that they're calling for rain next Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
Order landscape fabric for the garden from Amazon.
Place small order with Menards (more planting trays, parts for track lighting)
Finish the soil screen frame assembly.
Cut some more chicken wire for plant guards.
Hosta dug and planted, also some of the new hosta varieties planted.
Finish mowing front lawn and down here around the house.
Refrigerator clean out and trash taken up to the road.
Hopefully coax The Woman out so She can get "first use" on her new gear (then I can use them ...
)
Hope our GM'ers with health issues are on the mend and everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe Monday ...
