Yes, nice to be watching with a cup of coffee and not up there. They do take safety very seriously I noticed. I brought my wood splitter back from one of my other properties yesterday... now the work begins.

My son used to do that. Too scary to watch! Thankfully he has worked his way up to management and no longer does that, except for friends and family.

He brought home a 65' bucket truck one time and I went up in it myself. I think he could hear my knees knocking from down on the ground. Only did that once. I prefer to stay on the ground.

Not my cup of tea either.

My dad asked me to get rid of the oak in his front yard, I told him to pound sand. To many powerlines, buildings and the road.

He hired someone. Now I'll take care of it.

I could handle that tree... now.
Sometimes the cheapest way is to pay somebody who knows what they are doing and has the right equipment for the job.

And they ground the stump...

Yep. I have no qualms about cutting a tree if I can lay it down. If climbing is required I bring in the pros.

You're making me look bad. I haul in wood all summer, back up to the existing pile and throw it off. In October I cut it to length, split and stack it.
Most of my wood comes from logging jobs I'm around, they buck ends off to make hardwood sawlogs and I pick up the leftovers.
This year I burned bird's eye maple.

Indeed!! Me as well.
When I worked for the state, I went up to Plattsburgh to help clear some broken hung up branches, they called them widowmakers because they would come down like spears right through tents and pop-up campers. I was the ground crew, cutting branches smaller and feeding the chipper. One day the senior guys pushed me to hop in the bucket and lower it off the truck onto the ground. I did it, but my knees were shaking the entire boom!!!
