The BEST HVAC system for your home, hands down

If I had the space for the lines: geothermal. No space and new construction, I'd go for ductless. Got two inside, one outside Fujitsu here in the basement. Refrigerant lines present a problem to rest of the house.

Other ducted HVAC systems, have had 3 on the main system. Carrier has been about the best. Still have Carrier in upstairs.

Something I always did, and rarely saw any other contractors do.
I always flowed nitrogen through the lines when brazing.
I have no clue if anyone still performs this procedure, or not

We do that for medical gas lines at the hospital... K copper.

Flowing nitrogen keeps the lines much cleaner, as it prevents oxidation and scaling. I think of it as welding / brazing 101. It is required on all food welding (electro polished stainless).

All the best,

Peter

8.5 acres isn't enough space? My water lines ran out into my horse pasture and probably used about 1 1/2 acres.

Yes.

I'll also bet you used 15% Stay-Silv flat brazing rods.

On a side-note, had another ICP compressor lock out after 2 years of running. For whatever reason, the good old LG compressor that ICP decided to use for some specific models. Point being, there is no one perfect manufacturer out there.

Don't have enough around the house and then with trees about 30 yards back and down the slopes. Lines would have to snake down among the trees, or they'd have to drill another well.

I love it when insurance companies tell you what you can and can't do when it comes to repairs or replacing 😉
As long as they replace my condenser with same size and brand (if possible) I don't worry.

The issue with your line of thinking is internal volume of old system vs internal volume of "new" system.

36,000 BTU/h is still the same size no matter what year the indoor and outdoor unit was made, however, the internal volume on both indoor and outdoor units could have changed substantially over the years to meet new SEER ratings, meaning you'll either have to oversize or undersize the indoor/outdoor unit to the older unit isn't being replaced.

Technically, this will void any new warranty from the manufacturer if anyone is smart enough to ask the model numbers of both units, even though only one has a bad part.

Home warranty companies are a joke...
