generic motors used Nikasil. Not a bad deal but they (as usual) hashed up the testing on the Vega engine. They tested it with only the best gasoline. No pollutants, no.... Nothing. The best.
But back then, Ma and Pa couldn't buy that gasoline because -- Nobody sold it to the public. So, at about 75k miles, they would grenade on you. generic motors knew about the problem after a few months but their attitude was, "We're gm, and you peasants can just piss-off".
So then they came up with an even better engineering innovation. The Oldsmobile Diesel.
Ford uses Plasma Transferred Wire Arc. A different method altogether. They have had no issues with it AFAIK. Some Mustang owners complained of excessive oil usage but I think that was more from some of them not letting the engine warm up sufficiently before beating the living hell out of it. Every day.
I drive a Ram Cummins. If I sell it..... I don't know. I stopped being brand-loyal years ago.

I only list what tractors I own so if commenting on one of them the reader can easily see if I'm speaking from experience or just winging it. I don't think anyone is interested in how many hammers I have.
