Plowing a big field in Texas. Plowing is not very often done in the upper midwest anymore and his plow is a design I've not seen before. Square shape? He was getting flats on his tractor but his tires look terrible.

Great video!!!! I'm always amazed how much things are different in different areas. I've never saw a plow like that. I shared it with my large farmer friends here in Missouri. Mile long rows, WTH!!!! :)

I see he needs a new windshield. I bet that JD wholegoods glass is expensive, like most JD parts are...
I never noticed that. Was too busy catching the technical aspects and data collected.

I wanted to see him reverse the blades for a return pass. I remember using a double moldboard where you started in the middle of the field making an ever expanding worked area. Then we got a MF double mechanical flip over which was a terrific upgrade.

I think in this case the black beam the plows are fastened to simply rotates. That's why the moldboards are square and the shears are symetrical and pointed on each end.

I've never saw a plow like that here. We would use a rollover design. Carrying a second set of moldboards for the opposite direction all the time.

Problem with modern tractors and glass is, most of them (mine included) are glued in so changing it at home without the proper tools is almost impossible and I don't believe 'Safelight' can do it either. Last time they did the windshield glass in my wife's van (it's glued in as well) they did a rather poor job of refitting the cowl trim. Left some screws out, must have been in a hurry. Up here, glass is covered on all policies, Michigan seems to be a windshield breaking state....lol

Cab glass is expensive anyway. I shattered one of my doors by stupidity and it was almost a grand for the glass alone and I did the grunt work myself. Needless to say, I keep the doors closed now when moving.

Several years ago we had a very bad snow storm. Country folks were stranded. I spent days/nights in the grader. Catching naps in the cab. Plowed out dozens of people's driveways and pasture entrances so they could hay cattle. Was at a place talking to the farmer and said I'd open his entrance to his cattle pasture if there was nothing in the way. He assured me there wasn't. He forgot to mention a small pile of T posts. One of them got caught in a tire chain. Swung up and busted the door glass on the Grader. It's ceiling to floor in length and about 30 inches wide. For the next two hours I ran without a glass. Had my Son come to me with a large piece of cardboard and roll of duct tape. I was not very happy.....

I bet. What was the cost to the township to replace it? My open station sits in the barn unused most of the time in the winter. My issue presently is, my cab unit is at the Kubota dealer getting a tune up and getting the new electronic baler controls installed so all I have is my 'naturally' air conditioned tractor to use. Needless to say, I'm not using it except for absolutely necessary stuff. Why I sold the snowmobiles too. The older you get, the less tolerant you become of the cold, at least that applies to me.

Will use it today and it's a 'balmy' 28 outside and I'll get it done as quick as possible too.

I don't remember the cost. Bought the glass thru JD and my Son installed it. Glued in.

The glued in thing actually impresses me. All of the windows on the Grader cab are glued. There is nothing holding the glass except the glue. The surface of the surrounding area is simple, flat, painted metal. The windshield is three pieces. One large rectangle at the top with a smaller vertical rectangle going down each side. Where the glass splices it's a simple bead of glue.
