The sight glass on my L3650 had been seeping a slight amount and I thought it was the rubber seal deteriorating around it or the sealant going bad. Planned on replacing it this summer.
While using the tractor today I saw an oil trail on the gravel.
The sight glass apparently had been cracking around its flange and finally broke completely. Found it in the drive.

This is one of those I assumed I knew what the problem was until the real cause became apparent.
I have glued it all back together so I can use the tractor until the replacement comes in.

My F3060 front deck mower has the same part and had the same sight glass failure.

One of our local dealers had those in stock - the new one has been leak free.

My dealer had a similar one in stock but it didnt fit mine.
He ordered 5 to have some in stock.

Changing one out is easy. They just pop out. A little sealant and push the new one in.

May I suggest: (after doing some jobs twice...)
Final, 91% alcohol scrub right before assembly (dry), and
use Gear Oil RTV (it is different), either it's gray or a gray box.

When I glued this one back in I jacked up the side of the tractor so fluid quit coming out. Then cleaned it with acetone.
Original one had been secured with what looked like Moto Seal.
