Vineyard vines trimmer (laubschneider)

Hi guys,

I just bought an old and abused vines trimmer for my vineyards (and a ripper style cultivator) on an auction, it should be arriving today or tomorrow. I think I did well, I paid 1000, these trimmers run 6500 euros and up to 30000 new from Ero, Freilauben, KMS, Binger…

I bought several components, the cutter it self, the mount from another type of a trimmer and some other small parts… being that I have to buold something that suits my needs in our old and narrow vineyards. I figure I could not get anything ready to be used as there is no such thin out there for this narrow mediterranean vineyards. I would spend more and still need to cut it down to adopt to my tractor and the constraints of space.

in any case, I will post stuff on that here and any input, ideas would be greatly appreciated.

The trimmer and the ripper arrived this evening, they are not in a bad shape, I actually thought they were better than I thought they would be. I will post some photos soon.

In the picture it lookes as the chissel digger has a hydraulic cylinder.. Does that raise, lower the depth wheels ?? Or does the digger telescope narrow, wider to fit the orchard lanes ??

There are several variations of the Clemens Ripper (also Roll and Braun rippers), these companies dominantly make products for vineyards and orchards, very high quality but also very pricey being that they are German.

The model I got is an older model, the cylinder pushes the mechanism to spread it or pull the narrow it down on the go… from 85cm narrowest to 180 cm widest (for this model, there are wider models.

i will post a video and some more photos once I assemble and adopt mine to the tractor.

Exploded I took it all apart, to weld the broken parts together and replace the nuts/bolts to stainless (rusty) and some ball bearings… after that, I will start building a mast/harness.

I’ve been busy with the ripper, grubber and the trimmer at teh same time, adopting, fixing cracks, reinforcing the structure… some photos if any interest…

I put it all together after welding the aluminum (still learning tig welding), then realized some of the bearings on the pulleys are bad… decided to replace them all 12…getting there
