Guarantee? I’d think long and hard guaranteeing someone is who/what they say they are. I’ve ended up meeting a few people on these websites only to find they were nothing like they said they were.
There’s plenty of rich people all over the country who were given significant head starts in life on 2nd or 3rd base.
Sure, they may even work hard after being given lavish sums by their relatives, but millions of people get amazing head starts in life.
That makes an incredible difference in what material possessions they have, who they will marry, and their socio-economic status.
My advice would be take what you read with a healthy dose of skepticism
I can only speak for myself, but you could ask Steppenwolfe if he started out wealthy with an inheritance. I assumed he did not.
Me, I had to work starting as a kid for everything I needed or wanted. That was the best thing ever because I appreciate everything I have and worked for.
I agree and disagree with some things everyone says on this post. I'm not enamored or wowed by EVs like some here, but I can see the purpose.
Choices is what I hope to see.

With that many posts, you would think you could spell.
Not much need for that kind of response, is there?
Sometimes, better not to respond at all...

Was mentioned earlier but we are looking at the transportation issue with a set of hundred year old eyes.
Picture a self driving Uber that you don't have to own, pay for, insure, maintain or charge. Ready to go, summon it from your phone, it arrives charged, clean , clear of snow. You don't need to find a place to park it or charge it or garage it. The next generation will look back at amount of treasure we dedicated to our personal transportation and remark those old coots were crazy !
Adaptation.

Or.... You Can Get Used to Anything, Even a Hanging.....

^ Multi-Edged Sword. First benefit is as a short-term mental defense, on an individual level.

I view, in part, what you described as End-Stage Consumer Behaviour, and many people (certain TBN'ers aside) are there already.

I doubt that I'm the first Oldster to notice that many people (not just "kids") are highly Dis-Engaged with what is directly around them - aka glued to their phone screens.

Perhaps the Greater Good is served, by future generations placidly staring at their blue-pill tracking devices, and not noticing what has disappeared (transport options discussed in this thread are just a microdot on the spectrum, but I'll not wander further...).

Me, ^ I think not....

Porsche Researchers Say They've Found The Ideal EV Battery Size

As long as the EV demand is outstripping EV production as is the case today the car companies are going to limit ranges to 200-300 miles for daily driving. Non EV owners talk about Range Anxiety that is a fear that goes away with ownership.

As some have noted we seniors are hung up on the ICE parameters of the last 50-70 years of driving experiences.

The fact remains that the demand for EVS will outstrip supply for years to come and the technology will be very different 10 years from now I expect.

After Tesla get 10 EV factories fully ramped and paid for I expect a 30% price decline measured in US dollars.

Some may be better of waiting until 2030 to start following the EV revolution currently in progress. The bleeding edge is not for weak stomachs.

Since the USA life expectancy has dropped by 2 years since getting our used Nissan Leaf totally missing this EV revolution is more a possible than ever.

Time will answer our current EV unknowns I expect. As always there will be a new crop of questions.

Full Self Driving robo taxis may cut new car sales by 60% before the last ICEV is built.

One dissatisfaction that does not go away with ownership is charging access. And is the #1 reason 20% of EV owners go back to ICEv.
How will the government, that decides to discontinue ICE vehicles like California, fix the problem? If 20% of EV owners are having charging problems just think of the ones that figure out the problem before they buy. I would put the charging problem at 50% of the population if not more. It seems like 240v access at home for every EV owner is required before satisfaction to convert. Sounds about right, I would have the 240v plug installed before I took delivery of an ICE vehicle.

"The lack of reliable Level 2 charging at home (that's a 240-volt plug) was a major factor leading to EV "discontinuance," as the researchers called it. That makes sense. If you don't have a place to charge reliably, it makes it a lot harder to enjoy the benefits associated with an EV, including an overall lower cost of ownership". https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/ev-owners-switch-gas-power-study/

Agree, it’s the classic “cart before the horse” thinking.
But the act of buying, displaying and driving the car is part of the clean air mindset.
I guess it’s “Buy the EV FIRST and don’t worry about where we gonna charge this thing”
Around here, stations are catching up with need and demand.
