Keep in mind that both brands sell impacts in a variety of different drive sizes. The important part is that they all have models with a variety of torque in the same drive size.

I have a Dewalt impact because everything else I have is dewalt. The dewalt is strong enough for lug nuts and such but dewalt doesn’t make any impact as strong as what Milwaukee offers.

Did anyone see the Colorado truck driver that crashed killing 4 and got sentenced to 110 years in prison? I personally think he deserves it but a lot of people feel differently. He’ll probably get out in 10 years or less anyway.
To me it seems like a harsh sentence for what sounds like an accident. Like someone else said, lots of information I don’t have. For example if he was an independent truck driver and it was his rig and he skipped maintenance on the brakes?

It was a hired driver. Apparently the trailer didn’t have working brakes. Apparently he knew that and chose to keep going. But that probably wouldn’t have made all the difference. Service brakes aren’t made to hold grades. He failed at downshifting and using the exhaust brake. They’d have likely over heated and failed anyway with no assistance from the engine. He also failed at using multiple runaway truck ramps.

You're sure the vehicle HAD an exhaust brake?

I don’t know for sure it did but it was admitted in court that the truck was in neutral. That hill was only 6 percent which that’s a pretty good hill but not half what other hills out there are. It was also only a 45 zone. The truck wouldn’t have any problems holding 6 percent at 45 mph.

The driver made multiple decisions that resulted in the accident, independent of the conditions. The reason this has become so well publicized is the perception that the penalty of 110 years is excessive. For reasons I don't understand it seems that state law dictated this sentence. The only way to reduce it would be for the Governor to grant clemency. I don't think there is any great controversy as to whether the driver was at fault, only the appropriateness of the penalty.

There’s actually a lot of people supporting his release claiming “his brakes failed”. They don’t understand that unlike light vehicle brakes trucks brakes can’t just suddenly fail. Overheating them is the only possibility of failure and that’s that’s the direct result of driver negligence.

I looked at a couple of local news articles. There seem to be a various legal issues.

1. He was offered a plea deal and refused it so he was at risk of maximum sentence.

2. A decade or so ago the voters of Colorado wanted to go Hard On Crime so the legislature enacted some harsh penalties plus prevented terms for various offenses being served concurrently, that have to be sequential. (Therefor the 110 years). And judges were prevented from deviating (Soft On Crime!) from the standard sentences in the new laws.

3. He seems to have been charged with every relevant offense for each of the four victims, a prosecutorial choice.

4. One opinion I saw said the prosecutor took a hard line and said if he didn't want to plea deal then we'll convict him of everything we can think of as an example to others who may refuse to plea deal. (Unverified).

What terms did the plea deal offer?
