I think NJ has a saying now, something like “the California of the East Coast”?

I took a trip to NJ a few weeks ago. Where i was is NOT like CA at all. The word 'hillbillyville' is the closest one-word description i can think of.

Actually, when you get away from the cities, NJ is pretty rural, although don't think I'd use the same description you did

This was so much hippy-dippy BS!
Reminds me of some of the stoned out "discussions" from my youth...
In my youth I was sweating in the tobacco patch with no discussions of these facts of life as discussed by these two doctors. Maybe I was lucky to be a doctor before being exposed to this podcast about science based on your above post. What do you mean by stoned out "discussions" from your youth? I do not recall anything like that anytime in my past. Does your pass perhaps color your EV thoughts today?

California's New Lab-Grown Meat Facility Is the Most Advanced in the World

When we drive to McDonald's in our EVs for a burger we can be happy no sentient animal had to die.
I'll pass on pretend meat. Younger daughter did her semester abroad in New Delhi and cooks wonderful Indian (vegetarian) meals for us occasionally. Older daughter experiments with US-based vegetarian pretend sausage, hamburger, and if we go to a vegan restaurant, pretend salmon, lamb chops, whatever. She hosted Thanksgiving this year. I put my cranberry sauce and stuffing on a baked potato.

The Indian dishes are wonderful while the pretend meat is stomach-churning, for me. No thanks.

But the all time classic is Thanksgiving Tofu Turkey. I don't think that's real but rather was a comedy sketch. I hope.

We are facing a new wave of automation, a wave that will kill so called safe jobs, accounting is a fine example of this, a lot of jobs in public sector will be automated, jobs that has demanded high education.

How do a society handle a world where a large part of the population have no hope of getting a job? How do you distribute resources when people can't sell time for money?
A SF writer named Mack Reynolds wrote several stories 50 years ago set in a society like that. Everyone lived on "basic," which provided food and shelter, but not much else. He examined several different scenarios, including the difficulty of getting off basic and building a better life. Another story was about make-work jobs; one crew went through a sky scraper tightening bolts, and the next crew went through loosening the same bolts. Rinse and repeat, but it was a paycheck.

Systemic unemployment in the production sector was always inevitable. It's why the US started switching to a service economy in the '80s. Everybody needs a servant. Servants need servants. I would hire somebody to wash my dishes, except I have a dishwasher and it's automated. Your Roomba is a sign of the unemployment apocalypse. I saw it on TV. Fetch me a beer on your way thought the kitchen, would you?

As the job market changes, people need to re-tool/upskill/become educated in high demand/high paying jobs. Sadly, too often instead of adapting to change, they turn to opioids, alcohol and domestic violence.

EVs and Starships becoming ancient history sounds strange to us today but they will as our grasp of the human body and the universe improves.
😂 :poop: :ROFLMAO: 😂

Three minutes in, they still haven't mentioned what they are talking about, but Blondie chugs white lightning from a mason jar. You have to admire her dental work. Daddy spent a bundle on that mouth.
