I was in the electronics business and did a bunch of business with a defence contractor who's primary customer was ONI, office of naval intelligence. Spook stuff.
The joke was, everything had to be made sailor proof!

Some of the parts returns would indicated "sailor proof" was not possible. Even though it was rare for human damaged components to come back for repair and certification.
