Will put out a measuring stick after this round of rain. So far with each fill I've lost a couple of inches initially before settling but not as much as this last round. A measuring stick will tell me if it's steady per day or slowing down.

I used a plastic yard stick and put it in upside down so it was flush with the top of the water when full. When it dropped an inch, then 1 inch was exposed. When it was down 6 inches, then that's what was exposed on the yard stick.

For me, it was good to understand how much I lost from evaporation. I was nervous of a leak and this showed me that it wasn't leaking. I lose about 2 inches per week when it's hot out. Once Summer is over, I have zero loss.

You might be right, Eddie. I'm a fan of bentonite but worst case... Jk can augment his banks.
I agree with Eddie. 6 inches is a lot of lost water.

Bentonite is great when you know where the leak is. Just drop a few bags over the leak and wait and watch. When a pond is leaking all over, Bentonite can get $$$$. Sometimes discing bentonite in is the best way.

Yep, JK it has been a month... what's up?
Hopefully he is very busy with his wedding venue and his fireworks businesses. I to am anxious to see a picture of his new pond, but I will wait. Jon

Any updates? I'd like to send some of our rain your way. I've had to remove water from my pool 3 times this summer and have yet to add any since I opened it.

I think JK has started a new project. I wonder what he’s getting into this time.

Sorry guys. Super busy summer and a much needed break from almost everything internet, social media, and news related. To be honest I haven't missed any of it. Kansas City added a new professional women's soccer team and we were fortunate to pick up the pyro contract on that. Weddings have been busy as well. We have 3 this week at the venue. And yes I did start and finish a new project. Solar for the house.

As far as the pond I don't have a lot of good news. After that initial big fill we lost quite a bit of water. My neighbor also decided for some reason to terrace his pasture that I relied on and has diverted most of his runoff around me. On the plus side the pond seems to be holding now and is slowly inching back up and holding as it does. After loosing almost 3 feet I'm close to where it was with that big rain we recieved in the spring. I think my problem area was the ravine that I didn't touch. Probably going to have to bring some clay into the bottom of it and also open up some surrounding timber to get some plant growth on the ground and improve runoff if I want it to fill completely. At the moment the wildlife are fond of it. Deer, turkey, raccoons, and even a few wood ducks.

Thanks for the updates! Would love to see some current fall pics of the pond.

Congrats on your business and solar achievements. I bet you went with something crazy like 20-25 kW, huh? :p

Appreciate the update. I'm not sure if I mentioned it, but I found that wooded areas hold the water, and pasture sheds it. The more grass, the more water you will get in your pond.

25kw. Lol. 24.9 to be exact. Finished it up last month but just missed the inspection date. Our CoOp only inspects one a month. Recieved my inspection and approval on Monday and got them up and running now.

That’s a lot of panels.

Trina Solar 415 watt panels x 60

Thought I counted that. Grid tie, or hybrid to keep some lights on when grid dies?

Grid tied. We are on a Coop and they are fantastic. Probably only 4 or 5 power outages here the last 7 years that I can recall and when it does go out it is usually on within the hour.
