One step closer to zero emission power equipment

OPE has gone through several mandated emissions periods over the years. Some have catalytic converters, carbon canisters due to California emissions. There is a lot of emotion apparently over the impending changes coming our way.
I wonder if they could put DPFs or DEF injection on hedge trimmers and blowers to make them run emissions free? lol

Spent the day out on the almost 4 miles of trails I have here; used a Makita 36 volt cordless chain saw, pole saw, weed whacker, blower, and a hedge trimmer for the briars. Never fired up a gas engine. Imagine that 10 years ago...
I can imagine it 100 years ago, they called them hand tools. ;)

Personally, I find the Makita to be underpowered. I use the 58v Echo line.

Yep, my relatives bought hundreds of acres of timber in the mountains of PA, cleared the hardwoods and sold the timber, dug out/burned the stumps and created over 100 acres of grazing land with mostly 2 man saws, horses and hand tools.
Now anyone with 15 acres has to buy a 50HP tractor to cut 10 acres of grass or push over a dead tree. lol

My relatives had the opposite problem on the Great Plains. Planted 40 acres of trees in a practically treeless grassland. Busted sod to make homes until the trees got big enough to make boards.

I don't know, in the effort to do away with fossil fuels, I guess Tier 4 or anything else will not be acceptable.

Considering CA imports a lot of their electricity from plants outside CA it’s all political theater.
Is the same with water.

This is what gets me when you hear the "If California was a country it's economy would be bigger than <some country>" argument, or you hear how much Californians care about the environment. Seems like if California was it's own country it wouldn't even be able to support itself since they import 25% of their electricity and most of their water. Lucky for them they have generous neighbors who can spare both.

This is so awesome, I think I will go buy a new battery chainsaw, cut up some small branches, and put it on the charger and wait 6 hours...then go do all over again.

Wonder how many arborists and tree services are lining up and drooling to get their hands on a 36v Makita battery saw? Maybe they could tow a diesel portable power station on a trailer behind the chipper box truck and charge like 20 batteries at once?

Then they could outfit their employees with battery pack holsters and just keep slappin batteries in them all day. The Makita has 2 batteries so twice the fun!

Sign me up! :)

Sorry for the sarcasm….this stuff is just too funny to pass up.
