Thinking about a new saw

   / Thinking about a new saw #21
I've had two 562XPs. First one I cooked: earlier builds had cooling issues and I was beating the hell out of it, running it non-stop in about 90 degree heat. I liked the feel and performance of the saw so much I took a gamble on getting another one. Second one, however, I had ported: the notion being that it would run cooler, in addition to, of course, having more power. It has almost the power of a good 70cc saw; enough power to do anything that I am needing to do. Pretty much now have the ultimate firewood saw: I do, from time to time, use it to fell trees (and working with it up in a clump of maple trunks the lighter weight and the power make the job a lot easier/safer).

I have a small Stihl. I have no brand loyalty: no tattoos of saw manufacturer's names like some folks I see around here (one guy had Stihl tattooed on his friggen neck!).

I have a 372XP Husqvarna which has been my go to saw every since I got it and a 6100 Makita which is really a rebranded dolmar. The factory bar and chain on the makita is trash. Otherwise it’s a good saw. I also have a Husqvarna 353 which has been a reliable saw for a long time but it’s way behind in power output to the 6100.

This was the break in on this 12 model 562 with a 32 haven’t had any issues with the saw even with guys running it after being retired from full time falling duty of a few seasons.

Love my 562xp. Nothing special for the first couple of tanks then hold on ! They apparently have a break in tune then she goes to full tilt, fastest saw I've had. Can be a bit of a thoroughbred, she'll get cranky sometimes riding on the Farmi winch, gets flooded I think.

Break in from memory should be done wide open in some over bar length buried being pushed hard for X amount of time.

Well the old 2171 quit running today and nothing I did helped so off to the saw shop and scored the 562XP.
I have only felled one tree and logged up another with it but I got to say, it is a high speed beast; I am going to love running this saw!

Nice saw! I keep telling myself that my Echos are good enough, but if I ever start cutting more than firewood again, I might have to upgrade.

I got my new CS-620PW with a 27" bar and love it. I'm still breaking it in. I've cut 3 24" pines and numerous small (<8") trees. It starts easy cold or hot. I just pull the trigger and it eats the tree like it's starving.

Bought the Shindy 600sx 24" bar about 10 days ago still havent even cranked it the CS-620 equivalent . Also just recieved another new TimberWolf 590 24" Echo yesterday . I do the online muffler mods when I can get to them , and somehow the limiter caps fall off :sneaky: . Lately been stockin a saw or two selling them , flipping them for saddles , horses , cash back an forth ETC .
The guys know I have them and to save time etc from goin to "town " just wheel and deal with me .

You don't see very many big displacement pro Husky/ Dolmar / Redmax etc saws down here @ the end of I75 in sw Fla . What you see are tons of big box store Poulans , then lots of Stihl and Echo . I guess its a territory thing . Like in tractors this area (sw Fla ) is huge in Kubota and JD . You rarely see a Mahindra or LS .

Same goes for tracked skids steer Kubota king around these parts . Followed by Cat , Bobcat , and Takeuchi .

my cs-620 is still shiny-working on fixing that.
Save me hours over my cs-490 already!

I don't think I'll be climbing with my 620, would need a hoist :)

Can't go wrong with the Echo, I have 2 Stihls, a Lombard and an Echo and they are all good saws. The Lombard is a smaller unit that I use for limbs.
