Try buying a WiFi thermostat. Apparently there are chip issues from China per the manufacturing process, and the wait time is when they get the chips.
Ordered a WiFi thermostat Thursday. UPS delivered it yesterday afternoon.

It’s a Nest.

When people have to push a button from their soft cushy seat inside the cab to lower the tailagte on a pickup truck instead of getting off their lazy duff to lift a mechanical latch while we're complaining of 'chip' shortages is the day we know society is lost forever.

And then we talk about remote thermostats? Stand up, walk across the room and turn the dial up or down!!!! Or at least get one with a built in timer. You don't need one that require a link to a server a thousand miles away.

I'd never buy a nest, and I'm waiting for 48 because they're private labled.

Standard lead time use to be 4-6 weeks. Going on two and half months now. Talked with some guys, same problem.

The issue isn't if it's sitting on the shelf, but if it's not sitting on the shelf (no different than flexible duct, no problem if it's in the pipeline, issue is when the pipeline runs out).

Carrier guys were having the same problem with their communicating thermostat for their high end Infinity systems and I've heard issues with some other brands as well.

"Chip Shortage" makes an easy short term argument, but it's been a year now. That excuse is beginning to sound like a repeat.

It's pretty easy to design and build cars, tractors, and just about every mechanical device without using chips at all.
I would pay more for that. AC and turn signals. Leave all the other automatic transmissions/governors/locks/alarms/sensors/electric windows/etc on the curb and I would be a happy man.

So went to the Kubota dealership two hours away today, they actually had a surprisingly full lot. Lots of the larger Kubotas. Only one skid steer and one mini-ex but otherwise they seemed to have one or more of everything. Felt nice in an odd way.

Funny how they never seem to run out of chips for surveillance devices.

I just pulled the trigger and put down a deposit on a 2022 Polaris Ranger EV. The salesman said that they say that they will be meeting delivery timelines, so 8 to 10 weeks.

I have to say it was the long, multi-year thread here, by xfaxman, that made me decide on the Polaris EV. I shopped a bit for a new tractor earlier this year, but the salesman kept wanting to mention my husband, so I decided to skip the tractor for now. I'll just get my old one fixed again. But, I did go to the Frederick County (MD) Fair to walk the tractor row. I was able to sit on Kioti and Massey Ferguson. Kubota guys weren't there, although it was the dealership who thought my husband might buy a tractor (ha!), the Case guys were super helpful, I need to call and look into paying to get my tractor to that dealership for maintenance. I sat in a new Case, but the dealer is close to 2 hours away, I'm thinking I do want to stick with a closer dealer.

There were no NH in the size range I wanted to sit on. Since I'm not wanting to buy for at least a year now, I did not shop price much, this was a sit on the tractor/research exercise.
