Is that a Hertz rental truck? Looks like the yellow ones that used to be all over the place

It’s a citrus county FL public works truck.

Maybe a half ton but I don’t think nice 90s or newer 3/4 tons have ever brought 5k.
I bought this 2002 in 2015 for 5.5k with 115-120k on it. I didnt have to travel more than 1hr away and I didnt have to look long. I believe that was about when gas was about $5gal and people where giving these things away.
Fast forward to 2019 when I started to look at replacing it as we use it alot more now and tow with it alot more now. I saw rust free AZ 2008-2013 models going for 16k with 120k...now the same 2008-2013 I see going for 25k.

Everyone bought travel trailers in 2020 and realized that a 1500 suburban sucks at towing. I love my 2002 yukon 2500 and will only replace it with another.

Before Covid I was trying to find a rust free 3/4 or light ton truck for occasional use towing, and to put a dump body on. I thought I could find something for around $12K which would last me, as I only would use it frequently for a couple of years, then park it in the garage until needed.
By the time I was ready to buy though there was no way I'd drive to Georgia or the Carolinas so bought a Colorado instead.
Now it's almost impossible to find anything clean for twice that, and there's still no way that I'll drive to Georgia or the Carolinas.

That's why I said that this Suburban should go for at least 13K, although I wouldn't be surprised to see it go even higher.

Shipping from AZ to NY was about $1500. I cant hardly fly and do a 3day drive for that.

If something minor breaks down someplace where you aren't able to work on it yourself, it can easily eat into that $1500 since you're at the mercy of whatever garage you have to call. It's better to run it for a while on familiar territory until you know that you can trust it.

I know of somebody who bought a pickup down south, flew down to get it, and was driving through Massachusetts when it caught fire, burning to the ground. He had quite a fight with the insurance company getting them to pay.

When I did the calculations on the hourly rate after fuel costs I would be paying someone about $23hr for 3 12hr days to drive thousands of miles.

It would cost me about CDN $1800 to have a vehicle trucked from Illinois to the border crossing at Blaine WA so that sounds about right.

I am very much wanting to believe that you are correct.

They're making a liar out of me. With thirteen hours to go the bidding is at 7K and hasn't moved in two days. Granted the last 12 hours are when people start bidding, but at current price somebody is going to get a steal.

Yep.......and I am getting concerned!

The last 12hrs...wait until the last 15min. I bet it gains 2k and the winning bidder hasn't even bid prior to the last 15min.

Sure hope you are a winning bettor type guy!

I can't blame them. I was the winning bidder for several days on a used Stihl Kombi powerhead. In the last half hour it went crazy, somebody paid more for it than if they'd gone down to their local saw shop and bought it new. That was before the current Covid shortage.

Hoping for a profitable outcome and a seamless transaction!

Same happened when my wife sold a saddle... the bidding languished right up to the last couple hours, then at the very end two people got into a bidding war and she got much more than she even paid for it. Hoping there are some stubborn, prideful people with their eye this Burb.

It's two feet too long for my garage, but it has gotten me to look at similar versions that are a bit shorter. I just need to figure out what the style names are for the various brands and years since they changed so often.

On Bring A Trailer, all the action is in the last two minutes.

If a higher bid comes in the last few seconds the clock automatically resets to two minutes.

Excellent for the seller.

If reserve is not met. No sale is made (obviously) but the auctioneer will then put the seller in touch with the highest bidder(s) to see if a deal can be made.

Wishing you the best, fried!
