We never did find out where the water came from last night. As I'd written, it was a torrential downpour... Everything seems to be OK now, but the carpet may need a good cleaning. Looks like a week of dry weather which is good after all the rain we got in the last week and a half...
Boy, a miserable night...haven't been to sleep at all...going to be a long day at work...

I hope it doesn't either!!
What concerned me the most was the rain water (not waste) was coming through the wall where the wastes are flushed out. Definitely did not want the septic tank to be back flushing, nor the line broken. I checked outside today and the ground around the tank and where the pipe goes into the house was dry. The rain probably followed down the foundation...
We needed the rain as most of Vermont has been in drought conditions...just didn't need as much as we got over the last week...

It's been really smoky all day. Brownie & I made our last "call" outside before hitting the sack. The smoke was all gone and it was cooling down. It's now 67F @ 1:30 am. So at 10:30 pm I turned on the big fans and the house is cooling down nicely.
What a relief. I figured it would be a stuffy night with only the ceiling fans to keep us comfortable. Hopefully the house can get down to around 72 before I have to close it up for the day. Keeping the house cool without AC is a real art.

Coffee is done brewing. 54° with partly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 78° with mix of sun and clouds. Got grass mowed yesterday. Need to do a little trimming today. Then garden pond maintenance.
Sure hope it finally dries out enough to get feathers smoothed out.
Roy, glad it was not sewer backup. Eavestroughs over filling?
Buppies, hope all test come back negative.

good morning all. Cool cloudy morning, cloudy day in low 80's.
no joy on the home made pie yesterday, seems they only bake on Fridays and Saturdays.
So I bought some yummy blackberries they had on sale, blackberries as well as blueberries are supposed
to be very healthy for you.
came home and lawn crew was hard at work, thankfully paying attention to my email and no more lawn mowing, just weed eating from now on.
Since they mow two houses down the street also, they don't seem to mind.
I expect to be off to my MIL's new home in a retirement community in Doylestown. She's 94, this is a bit overdue...has been living at home with no friends left, they
had all passed before her, and with her family constantly worrying about falls down stairs. Will be very happy to visit her in her new home.
I bet it's going to take quite an adjustment for her but I'm hoping she meets new friends and wonders why she didn't do this years ago.
About a third of the folks now in supermarket are back to wearing masks. Including me. I'm quite happy being safe vs sorry.
They say 98% of patients in hospital with Covid were not vaccinated. And while I am, I don't want to be an unintentional carrier either.
We are at 2.6% here, if it doesn't get any higher or goes down, I'll stop wearing a mask but when it's so easy...
Seems you have to pick your battles. If this is what is part of being a good citizen, I'll try to do my part.

"Cool" today after yesterday's 1.2" rain but humidity is high. Supposed to rain again today. I'll be out fixing the driveway until it does. I've let it go too long. It's been a wet summer this year. After I cut grass along the edge the other day, I can actually SEE the drive.

Only 71 degrees this morning, going for a sunny high of 90, which I consider very good for this time of year.
And maybe some other things in the State of Texas might also be getting better. When I renewed my driver's license, they said the new license would come in the mail in 3 or 4 weeks. It arrived yesterday; exactly ONE week.
And I see in the news that Texas just graduated a class of 145 new state troopers.
