Thanks for posting that, David. My county is ranked High. No wonder, with about a 50% vaccination rate.

Delta is said to have a much higher infection rate, but it doesn't appear to be any more deadly, in large measure because of the new therapies available, and lower impact to those that have been infected before or had the vaccination already. What hasn't been pointed out is that those that have chosen not to get vaccinated also chose to accept a higher risk of severe complications and death should they get CV19. Bad decisions lead to bad outcomes. Why should those that have already been vaccinated have to go back to wearing masks to protect those that have chosen not to protect themselves?

Good Morning
It’s 64 and sunny now, headed to 75 and rain. Thunderstorms are likely as well.

Yesterday was a glorious day weather wise. Temps under 80, low humidity and a gentle breeze. Just perfect for an outdoor festival.
It was a good time, but I sure don’t envy the stage manager trying to get acts on and off the stage in a timely fashion. One band in particular must have tried his patience. The refused to use the provided back line gear, so their setup time chewed up a batch of time, as did their breakdown. To compound that they went way over their allotted time, and continued to play even when
“given the hook”. The icing on the cake was that their stage volume was insanely loud, making it impossible for the sound engineer to get a decent mix. We went on and off without a hitch except for launching into the first song before the drummer was ready….

I did get the contactor mounted on the airplane with the help of my son, but didn’t get it cowled up yet, that’s an easy job, possibly for today, as there isn’t much else planned.

I asked you if you’d checked the fuel pump yesterday, because it seems like a delivery problem.

I don't have a fuel pressure gauge. This uses a 12v diaphragm pump, that is supposed to pump at a very low pressure. The OEM Nippondenso pumps are VERY expensive, the china crap pumps (which I have) are cheap. I can buy about 6 cheap pumps for the price of OEM. The OEM's last a bit longer, but break too. You can hear my pump change frequency as it gets to the point of the carb being full, as it keeps pumping. It sounds like you would expect a pump getting to max pressure, then struggling.

Have you checked the float needle tip and seat? If the tip wears, the notch may no longer seal. If the seat is damaged or dirty, same deal. If dirt gets in the seat, sometimes you can get in there with a pencil eraser and clean it up.

I bought one of these test kits a while back when I was chasing fuel pressure issues on the van. Worked well...

I did look at the old rubber tip in my stereoscope. It was slightly worn at the point of contact. The orifice that the rubber tip goes into to shut off the fuel, is maybe about 1mm or smaller. It is not replaceable, it is just a drilled hole with a very small chamfer. A guy online spun a toothpick to clean it. Another in lieu of an electric pump, adapted a vacuum pump off of a lawnmower.

So a side issue is it seems the cooling system is not flowing. I pulled out the thermostat and checked it in a pot of boiling water....all good. Then I took off the water pump to check the impeller. I was thinking it was like a rubber outboard type, that made contact with the walls, but it is actually a hard plastic type, and doesn't contact the walls. Now I'm waiting on new gaskets to replace it. So I need to figure out how to bleed the system to make sure there are no air pockets.

I found this online, some have said to elevate the front end of the unit too.

Another possible symptom online was a clogged exhaust. I had to take the muffler off to get to the water pump, so I took off the tailpipe spark arrestor, it was clear so I'm calling that OK. I even tried to start it with the exhaust off to see if that was the problem, and that's when I noticed the huge amount of fuel coming out of the exhaust ports. So now at least I know it's a flooding issue.

Picked two 1 pound tomatoes a few minutes ago to take to my brother's home tonight for dinner.
1.04 pounds is the current leader in the tomato olympics
I've grown much larger before but that's just bragging rights, I'd rather have good flavor.
One tomato I picked tasted pretty bland and flat actually. I have four varieties out there, need to pay attention
which ones I like best.

started raining earlier while church "service" was on, and since our doors are open for ventilation with lots of fans moving the air,
we are at the mercy of Rt 413/Durham Road which goes right next to our church. And on a nice day the noise of dozens and dozens of passing
motorcycles in the quiet of quiet worship is really hard to tune out. But let it rain and most the motorcycles of course stay home. And it's Sunday so the local
quarries are closed which keeps almost all the trucks off the road. So all I heard this morning
was the gentle hiss of car tires going by, very soft and soothing actually. So I didn't mind the rain at all.
Same thing with snow. Always slows down the traffic and makes everything quieter.

About half of us wore masks this morning to show solidarity with the kids of the three families that came, particularly when two of the three parents were masked.

We are at 2.6 moderate, going to watch that number like a hawk.

Don’t know if it made the news, but unfortunately we joined the wild fire group. County evacuated 2 populated areas on the Waimea side of Mauna Kea.

I did get the dogs area mowed yesterday, just later than planned.

Need to do some clean up in the construction zone.

Our county is 69% vaccinated

Yesterday Austin's new soccer stadium was well attended - sold out. No stores are requiring mask but about 1/3 of the customers and a few employees are wearing mask. Church was as usual one person wore a mask. Basically I think people are just tire of it all, I know I am. I continue to sanitize my hands after out in public but have not worn a mask in over a month, and don't miss it.
