My 4300 watt generator with a 7.5 hp Robin Engine has been sitting in the shed with full gas tank since Hurricane Juan. Pulled it out and on the second pull it started. Surprised me and made me happy!

That's some engine design ....a no start and headache would be expected.

Robin is Subaru. That is why. Honda engines got nuthin on Subaru. I have 3 Subaru cars at my house.

Hope after shutdown, you drained that old gas and filled with fresh premium.
As I recall..... premium gas in NS has no ethanol.

Storing ethanol gas for a prolonged period is a very poor idea!

add water and food coloring, ethanol collects at the bottom....per-my neighbor

I just run it for an hour or two to get it warm and evaporate any condensation. Then put it back in the shed. Still lots of gas in it.

Regular gas begins to deteriorate within 3 to 6 months, 93 octane begins to deteriorate (loose octane) after 9 months.

That doesn't mean that it takes all of the ethanol out. I've had enough problems with moisture over the years that I will pass on intentionally adding water to my gas. If you want to tell if there's any water left, throw it into your freezer for a day.
