I just bought an almost complete loader for my Mahindra 3016. It is an ML115 loader and it needs the loader valve and hoses and fittings. I have been looking and I can get a decent 10GPM flow 2 spool valve for around $200. I will probably put a grapple on it at some point and it seems like it would make sense to put the third function on now when it will cost another $100 to add a 3 spool valve or a separate single spool. The 3rd functions kits are around $500 so it looks like thinking ahead would make sense at this point. I need a loader valve anyway so why not add that 3rd function.

Hard to find info on these things. 2 spool valves are easier to find and I can get spec sheets so i know what I am getting.

These guys have lots of info but no two stick 3 spool valves. I could add a single spool separately but the handles will be too far apart. This tractor is Shuttle Shift so you run out of hands pretty quick.

So can anyone help me sort this out?

I have the Chief 10 GPM version for a project tractor I am working on. Have not installed it yet but have two other valves I use on my Kioti. One on the loader with third spool for grapple and one I moved to the back for rear remotes.

The loader one is a Walvoil and is a very nice valve. The remote valve is a Youli. The Youli is not a good valve as it has a casting issue that is in every valve. When the first spool is used it builds pressure and blows over the relief valve. Not a problem for me on the remotes because they are not used that often.

The photo is of the Chief Valve? How come you have it mounted horizontally in stead of vertically like most joy sticks. Can you operate that aux lever without taking you hand off the main joy stick? Does the chief valve have a boom float position?

The photo is of Walvoil and Youli. I have not installed the Chief valve yet.

I can work the third lever with my hand on the joystick. I chose that orientation for ease of use.

The Chief I ordered does have float and power beyond. Also has checks on each spool.

That photos is showing all of them on the same block like the Chief. I thought you said the older one was a 2 spool and a separate 1 spool but the photo looks like the Chief.

Where are you buying these valves?

No they are all three spool valves like the Chief. When I bought those Chief only offered the 25gpm and that was way to big for my system.

I had my local Hydraulic store order the Youli and I had a Walvoil dealer in Dallas order that one. I paid way more for those than I did for the Chief. The Chief has all the features I could not find back then without special orders.

Does that little lever go left and right or front and back?

Front and back. Not left or right.

Ok, I ended up buying the Chief 3 spool off ebay. I hope I made the right decision. I was confused about how the hoses connect. On my Mahindra they show a hose hooked to the power beyond back to the junction block. I think when you connect the new loader valve, that takes the flow from the three point. To get it to function again, you have to run a hose out of the power beyond on the loader valve back to the junction block. They also tell you to insert a set screw in the junction block to divert flow to the new valve. Does this sound correct?

It sounds logical to me. Can you take a picture of the directions? The valve needs to be set up as open center with power beyond.

I did some more research. When you install a front end loader (FEL) the flow from the pump to the rear 3 pt hitch is diverted to the loader valve and you have to re-establish that flow by running out of the power beyond port to the other side of the flow diversion. Looked at my Kubota manual and it was similar to the Mahindra but it had a flow diagram. To connect the loader valve, you remove a block. This block covers two holes but it has a bridge to allow flow to pass. You remove that cover and install a fitting in each of the two holes. The pump side goes to the loader valve and the power beyond is routed back to the rear implement control valve.

Another issue I encountered with the Chief valve that I ordered from ebay is that the valve is backwards. That means that the hoses have to come out the back of the unit instead of out of the front which is the way that I have seen it on most tractors. This is a royal pain especially since many vendors don't tell you this up front of even know it is an issue.

Interesting. I guess I don't quite understand. The work ports are on top of the valve I thought. Is that not correct?

Could you post a picture?

This the way I want it to be but if mounted this way the loader functions are reversed. So this would have to be flipped 180 degrees with the ports facing backwards to work. If this valve did not have a float function then you could just flip the hoses. I did find a way to flip it 90 degrees so the ports are facing the left. This is better than having them face backwards.

So to go into float you have to pull the handle away from the ports?

If this is the case you can change the pivot block for the joystick to give you the proper orientation. It may require a different pivot block or sometimes you just have to flip that one. Bailey Hydraulic should stock what you need to mount this way.

K5 is right, you can just rotate the pivot point 180, and it will be the way you want.

You can also rotate the single lever pivot block 180 if you want it closer to you.

Some valves are built to be installed 4 different ways. They usually will have two different pivot blocks available to achieve this. Each block can be mounted two different ways. However, some of those screws that hold the block can be extremely tight. Make sure you use a good screwdriver. Lol

Here is a video on how to mount a joystick on a Badestnost valve, which is who actually made those Chief valves. Then they just rebrand it to whoever wants to sell those.

Should give you a better idea of how the linkage works on the joystick.

Yes I rotated the block at the top and it rotates the pattern clockwise 90 degrees. I would like to have the block that would reverse is 180 degrees but I may have to live with what I have. Now the ports are facing to the left. It is not optimum but at least 7-9 hoses won't be dangling at my feet.
