A woman I know was grocery shopping with her young son. She was unloading her cart in the checkout line, and her son was in the child seat of the cart, facing back towards the next person in line, who happened to be a quite hefty woman.

The child was looking at her with big-eyed amazement, and he said, "Gosh, you're big!"

The woman smiled and said, "I guess I am big, compared to you."

He shook his head and said, "No, you're the biggest thing I've ever seen!"

I don't think children are inherently honest. They will lie about stealing a cookie at a very early age. Polite lying is a skill that takes a while to develop.
