If the cops ever want to know where I have been I can just hand them my phone, it remembers better than I do.

I think if they really really want to know where you were, they can get the data without your phone. FISA court especially.

I know it's not the case for everyone but for me the conveniences afforded by my smart phone outweigh the risk. By using tractors etc. most of us face risk by taking certain measures that make the risk tolerable. It's the same with the phone, I keep financial / password info off the phone along with a few other basic precautions. As for being tracked or spied on, my life is pretty boring, if someone (or something) wants to follow along I don't care.

Likewise. My phone does not have any of my financial data, and spends much of its life turned off.

Hmmm ..... wish I were smarter. Too many software programs, too many sub-programs. My cell phone is always off - unless I want to make a call. Call me - leave a message. If it's important I'll call back when I turn the darn thing on. It stays in the house unless I'm going on a day long trip.

It's a phone. I have several cameras and Garmin GPS units. The keyboard is ridiculously small and a real PITA to use. I don't use it to search for anything/anywhere - I have my computer here.

At least the thing makes/receives phone calls. That's all I ask.

And NO - I do not need a new cell phone & new program every year or so.

Too many days...... I feel like it's getting harder and harder to find the way back out of the Rabbit Hole.....
