Kubota B7100D hst
So I bought an old kubota B7100, wanted to flush all the fluids. Removed what I thought was a drain plug and it was actually a stop plug for the hydraulic control valve pump and then the bolt (plug) won't go back in. Something is preventing it from threading in. I tried forcing it and now the threads are stripped in the aluminum. I can't be the first idiot to do this as it looks exactly like a drain plug as it's directly below the oil filter on the pump. So, now what? How do I move the piston out of the way so I can re-tap a larger bolt with a ground down shoulder to put back in there. I've attached a picture from the parts manual to show number 15 is what I'm talking about. Anybody want to help this idiot understand what's going on inside that hole and tell me how to fix my mess?

here is the picture, the stop bolt is drain plug looking thingy at the bottom. Does it rotate or just flap back and forth?

when somebody stripped out a spark plug we
used a helicoil put on spark plug and inserted
into hole in head and tightened and that fixed
that problem.

If you can go the helicoil route you can even use the original plug or bolt.

Take it to a Kubota dealer and have them fix it. One, you don't have the tools and two you lack the knowledge. That bolt aligns the swash plate in the HST and it will have to come apart to fix it. Like I said in your other post, be sure what you remove, before you remove it. It ain't a drain plug....lol

Yes it is. Probably drain your wallet of any $100 Benjamins you have hidden in there !

Taking it to a dealer is not an option, it just threads in, I will re-tap to a larger hole and use a bolt that's the next size up. I never moved the shift after removing the bolt, so it can't be too far off from the swash plate being aligned now. Why would it need to come apart and how do align it?

Thanks for any help, and leave the wise ass comments to yourself, thus is supposed to be a place to get help, not "take it to the dealer" and what not jackals comments.

You should post pictures of the bolt and messed up threads. It might give us a better idea on how to help. I am thinking that is a specialty bolt and going up a size may not be an option.

According to your first post you could not install the bolt so that to me would indicate something moved or shifted inside the transmission housing. Without a detailed service manual we can only guess on what shifted. The position of the thrust plate / swash plate in that hydraulic motor is critical and if installed wrong could and most likely would destroy your HST.
You can maybe fix this without dismantling the HST but I would certainly invest in a work shop manual that has detailed instructions on how that bolt is installed and what functions it performs

totally understand not wanting to take to dealer since cheapest thing on my tractor is the owner

Yeah tap and thread if nothing's moved should work out, clean out any metal shavings. Best hopes...

Ok, this is going to be a challenge without disassembly. The stop bolt has to go into the fixed swashplate. If you look closely at your parts diagram you can see where it goes.

That hole has to line up with the hole in the case where the stop bolt goes. The stop bolt then can be reinstalled. I highlighted a screenshot from the service manual below.

K5L,
good find on that procedure in the service manual. I agree that I doubt this can be properly reassembled without dismantling the transmission. I suspect that the swashplate shifted from spring load when the bolt was removed.

Yes I agree. Plus he will not be able to go up a bolt size. Hopefully he will post pictures and maybe we can see a solution. I hate it for him.

You should look up the cost of s replacement pump before you "try to make it work" with some cob repair. Be sitting down when you find the price.
