I was over at the local (30 miles away) LS dealer the other day and picked up my filters for my new MT2 25S first oil/filter change. They had the "Filter Pak" containing air filter, fuel filter, engine oil filter, hydrostatic filter, and main THD filter all in a nice neat box.....$52. I had gone in there to get the Hydro and THD filter. The sales guy said the whole box costs you 6 bucks more. So all you guy running around trying to get numbers for after market filters.....sure you are headed in the right direction?

i think i paid close to $30 for just 1 filter....and i had to replace 7 in all....2 machines.

wow, I think just the fuel filter for my MT240 is more than that entire kit.

Thats an awesome find! I'll talk to my dealer, see if he has any such kits available for my machine, before I do next service.

OEM filters are made to manufacturer's specs where they have it in their best interest to ensure your engine lasts long past warranty. You may be buying an aftermarket filter that is better than OEM, but who really knows, there is a good chance aftermarket is cheaper because it is a cheaper filter.

Messicks has a good video on this: It isn't that your warranty would be void with a cheap after market video, but if your engine broke and you have OEM filter, there is nobody else to blame, why take a chance? That's my opinion.

Used to only stick with OEM Filters while my tractor, truck, motorcycle, etc. was under warranty. But now, things have shifted and I pretty much stick with OEM filters throughout the entire services ownership.

The MF does not have a "Kit" or "Box" of all the necessary filters and fluids that I am aware of. But I have a list of #'s I can order or can go to dealer and they will pull each part needed. But the JD I have on order has a "Home Maintenance Kit" that contains everything you need. Either way, I like the one stop shop @ dealer or order everything on-line. The convenience helps.

No. Mine uses the Pak #1 (box label) which has a check off box listing of half a dozen tractors of which it would contain the correct parts. The dealer just asks for what tractor goes to the shelf, rotates the box to view the list, finds the check mark adjacent to your tractor model and wala, you have your kit.

What I am finding is that LS is self stated to be an "engineering" company and when engineers run the show, the right things happen. Seems they use common parts in a lot of their tractors where it seems appropriate.

On the engineering part of their self statement, no doubt engineers were in charge of the design and production of the MT2 series of tractors....very well thought out for functionality and operator convenience....with the "Oriental" attention to little details that I love about them.....meticulous in every detail.
