Think of all the pollution from installing the junk wind energy systems across the nation.

Speaking of grandfathering, what do we do with older vehicles with small landmines installed in the dash passing off as safety devices? I'm sure there is some asinine law that says I can't remove something from my vehicle. But Americans are stupid, and like all the asinine rules and regulations.

There are many things that should not be dumped in the environment, but some of this has gotten out of hand a long time ago.

Airbags were always something that I never really thought about... they were just a part of the pickup. Since I bought my Colorado I have a different viewpoint. Between the huge headrest on the passenger seat and the high doors to accomodate the airbags; it can be a challenge just to see around the darned things while pulling out into an intersection. I've even thought about sitting on a Sears Roebuck catalog to get up in the air a bit higher. :D

That's the problem with the airbags. They have stuffed them everywhere in most vehicles, so now it's hard to see behind you and you must rely on the mirrors and sensors. We are less safe because of the airbags. I have an '08 Rogue that is pretty easy see out of overall; later models, not so much. Airbags are another asinine safety feature foisted upon us without any public discussion.

Look at the stolen catalytic converters; another problem caused by government overreach. We are better off with less air pollution, but he feds always create these other unforseen problems.

Remember, it’s for “the children”.

"A federal grand jury indicted the owners and a manager of a Ridgefield automotive shop on Thursday for allegedly removing pollution-control devices on hundreds of diesel pickup trucks, according to a news release from the United States Department of Justice.
...
The defendants allegedly “charged their customers fees of about $2,000 per truck to remove emissions control systems required by federal law,” between January 2018 and January 2021, the news release stated."

Meanwhile, our entire economy is shut down due to some KNOWN hackers and FBI is clueless. As usual.

Orwell intended '1984' as a warning, not a 'how-to' manual

Yeah, is there nothing that 'for the children' can't cover. That's why those expensive plastic baby car seats become 'expired' and then become a plastic waste stream.

GUILT is a powerful emotion. It is wielded like a sword to....well....”guilt” people into changing.

Gotta say I wouldn’t be sad if they got tossed in the pen for a few years and tagged with a felony conviction on their records. Being stupid should come with a price.

But yet, a container ship that uses 80,000 TONS of diesel fuel crossing the Pacific is okie-doke in your book, huh? And with absolutely NO (ZERO) emissions controls...... And how about ManBearPig's private Jet? The one with no, ZERO, emissions controls? But those guys removing EPA mandated JUNK that breaks down and doesn't work and costs thousands to repair because it was engineered by morons? They need to be shot at sunrise? Beria would have loved you

Too many people have the same opinions as the last CNN host they watched

AMEN!
Probably the best post I’ve read here in months!

Its always the poor guy making $20,000 a year trying to keep his business going that gets highlighted as a law breaking loser redneck on the news, isn’t it?
Anyone can see this DPF/DEF nonsense is just a band aided last second attempt to meet federally mandated pollution limits.
The “news” knows he can’t afford to hire attorneys to fight them to get his reputation back.
This ”news” media we have running lose in this country is disgusting

There is a worldwide push for mandating lower sulfur diesel that I believe took affect last year. But yeah, these ships are dirty polluters.

It was good to get lead out of gasoline, and some of the emissions were good to reduce to a point, but now the EPA and other agencies are run by poop heads with zero science background and trying to impose more emission standards that will simply make vehicles more costly to repair.

Look at what was done to VW and their diesels. The emissions cited were trivial at most and contributed nothing to more deaths. It is true that particulate pollution and other air pollutants can be hard on the body, but I think we have reached the limit technologically on the emissions. The reality is that nationally, most cities in the US are doing pretty well on ozone and NOx and CO is almost nonexistent.
