good morning all. Drippy morning, still raining gently, got about half an inch last night.
3 inches of rain in Texas? That's going to make your gardens very happy.

off to go food shopping this morning. Somewhat in a dilemma because I would stock up the fridge easily but new electrical service coming in this week
and not sure how long the power will be off. Terrible timing on electric, supposed to be 85 (very odd...) here on Wednesday, I'll be sitting at home in pain
after Tuesday's operation with no electric, no a/c, no fans... I may ask the guy to hold off one more day.
Took over a week for local township official to approve the permit, putting us all a week behind.

Once the electrician is done, then hvac guy comes in to put a cooling coil in the existing system. I had offered to pay half of the hvac cost, which I estimated at 6k.
Landlord had contact who was a retired hvac guy who does occasional installs now, and got a price of 2800 bucks to add a/c to existing forced air oil fired system now.
Good deal...I would have fussed over name brands on equipment if house was mine, but all I care(d) about was minimum SEER of 14 and a ten year compressor warranty.
So my half is a lot less now.

Think I'm trying to get too much done in one week, but that's how the muffin baked...

almost all my tulips are blooming now, neighbor is amazed to see them, locals write tulips off as deer food, but my little electric fence
has done the job and so far dozens of different colored tulips are coming up. They don't last long but sure are pretty.
I have always liked tulips, here's a pic of my tulip garden at the NC farm. Why the deer left them alone I don't know as I never sprayed.

Roy, I could use a pallet like yours...for firewood...I pulled a leaning oak down yesterday...one that got hung up on another tree when I cut it back a month ago...never have left a caught one behind before but this one was a challenge. Tractor, chains, and tow strap that I could throw over the trunk about 15 ft. up got the job done. Bucked it, but a pair of Phoebes are nesting under my shelter next to my splitter, so I guess it won't get split for a while.

Speaking of nests, 4 baby Carolina Wrens fledged from the nest above our front door yesterday...they stayed on the porch for a while...so tiny. My wife was glued to the window for a while. We had to run a few bluejays off that were there for the mealworms, so the wren parents would calm down.

Speaking of trailers, anyone haul their sxs in an enclosed trailer? I’m looking for one that would hold my ranger. Probably a 7x12. It would barely fit a 6x10 but I have to get out. Trying to decide singe vs double axle, brakes and weight capacity.

Good Morning!!!! 50F @ 4:15AM. Rain likely. High near 55F. Winds SSE at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 90%. Rainfall near a quarter of an inch.
Rain started at about 1:30AM, only 0.02" of accumulation so far. The drought goes on.

If your generator has outlets on it, Drew, can you leave it disconnected from the transfer switch and run an extension cord inside to power your fridge and a fan while the electrician is working?

When I worked at a sign shop back when I was in high school, we used carbide blades in the table saw to get very clean cuts on Plexiglass, David. The more teeth, the smoother the cut. Raising the blade all the way up helps with chipping, as does putting masking tape on the bottom side of the sheet. Or you can use a carbide bit in a router to make a very clean cut. A few 2x4s laid over a pair of saw horses will support a 4x8 sheet of plastic very well, and you can clamp another 2x4 to the sheet to use as a guide if you want to use a hand held circular saw or router for the cuts. I'll be using a router and the saw horse trick to cut the laminate sheet when I resurface the cabinets in the van.

I wasn't very impressed with Milwaukee's parts department when I had to replace the chuck in one of their rotary hammer drills, Kyle. The part was very expensive and took a loooooooong time to get to me. I was able to find a new chuck for my Makita drill on Amazon, and had it in just a few days, for about half the cost. If I was starting over with battery powered tools, though, I'd look hard at the DeWalt line. Bigger batteries and stronger motors than what Makita has, but not nearly the selection of tools. Now if I could just get the old chuck off...

Got through most of the salvaged wood yesterday, sure made a lot of sawdust. Maybe one more day to go.

The tractor tires sure have churned up a lot of dust in the wood yard. I was hoping the rain would smooth things out and compact it, but it doesn't look like there'll be enough to do much.

Really good weather for working outside yesterday, with a high of only 65F and steady breezes in the 10-15MPH range. T-shirt weather, and cool enough to wear the chainsaw chaps for a change. Supposed to see 90F by the end of next week.

Burn permits are required here starting May first. Usually they aren't required until the end of June, but we're so far behind on rainfall, everything is already drying out for the summer.

Looks like an inside day today. Gonna look into installing the new alarm system, and probably sharpen some saw chains. The alarm on the van went off in the wee hours last night, and nothing showed up on the security cameras to explain why. Need to look into that as well.

BEF we had a 20 footer hauled atvs three but had too many leaks now have goose neck 22 foot flat deck much more useful to me hauls tractor utv mowers etc. if you get enclosed trailer look for one piece roof

Good morning! 48˚F heading to the mid 80s, clear skies no wind.
Drew the Texas Friday showers were very scattered, I got .03" while Mom got 2.5", I was wondering what Kyle got.
Church attendance is slowly increasing as more people feel comfortable about getting out after their vaccination.
