36 and frost heading to 64 and rain later.

Chris, good luck with that poison ivy. I always spray with 2% glyphosate and let id die before messing with it...except this year I did chop some off at the ground with a bush axe before it leafed out. I need to go back and spray.

Eric, I can see some nice angling in your future with that fish refuge. Just hope the alien doesn't come back.

The trail I hiked Tuesday was so beautiful, I took my wife back yesterday on part of it...hiked back down to Camp Hoover and had a picnic on the deck in front of his former cabin. Then explored the whole camp where some other buildings and ruins have interpretive signs and trails. One of the cabins is named "Prime Minister's" after the British Prime Minister who stayed there when discussing affairs with the President. Even more wildflowers were blooming. I've never seen so many.

Pictures, we need more pictures!!! Lol

Good morning to all! Low of 34, going up to 65. The weather guessers are saying some breezes today, windy tomorrow....

It was really windy with 45 mph gusts yesterday, but hope was on the horizon.... there were some isolated showers going all around us... we got about 10 drops, mostly just blowing dirt. It is really dry....

There were reports of a wildfire about 45 minutes north of us last evening. They were starting some evacuations of a town.... It is not going to be a good fire season unfortunately....

My middle son was home early from work yesterday and jumped right in to help lay the pavers for the greenhouse! WOOHOO!
I was having a hard time just bringing them to him.... no way was I going to be able to put them down.....

All set to start putting together the greenhouse. We are just waiting to see if it's going to get windy.... I don't want to be messing with those panels in the wind....

Mostly, glad to hear the medication is working for your wifey. Good news for sure!

Wng, sounds like you and the Mrs had a great hike! That's a beautiful area.

RNG, please, please send some of the rain towards us!

Randy, hope you are feeling better and on the path for full recovery!

I wonder what has happened to Jay / wifey, Riptides, and Ron.... hoping they are all OK.

Everyone have a great day and weekend!

57F and "Fair" @ 11:00, headed up to a high of 63F. Cooler tomorrow, with a high of only 55F.

Finished first cup of coffee, starting on second.

4 or 5 squirrels out around feeders this morning along with a few birds who I can hear chattering.

Hubs/tires/wheels and Craftsman spray gun unloaded from van yesterday afternoon.

Mealworms put out for bluebirds.

Compost/wood lot mowed.

Spent some time yesterday evening with the county GIS app measuring and calculating the square footage of the lawn. Came up with 142,640 sq. ft. which is just a little over 3.25 acres. That's probably fairly close and no doubt closer than whatever I was guesstimating it at.

Normal stuff on schedule as far as feeding all the critters goes.

Neighbor cut his lawn the other day and apparently his bagger is on the fritz so he and one (or more) of his kids raked up all the clippings and bagged them by hand. Told him I'd take the clippings for the compost pile, so I'll need to throw the loader on and run up there and get those. Looks to be around 10 large bags or so.

Get out Stihl blower and clean off concrete pad behind garage.

Then clean up the remainder of the straw bale out front and load it in the bucket and move it to ... somewhere. Probably over near the area behind the west planting bed where I added composted soil and sowed grass see last fall. That area may need more grass seen sowed on it again this year. At a minimum, it needs raked out.

Then swap out the bucket for the pallet forks and move the rack for the auger bits around to the pad behind the garage.

Unload polycarbonate greenhouse panel from van and move it around back to the basement.

Move aluminum extension ladder over to pole barn.

Remove rebar along driveway.

Finish Menards order (in case the 11% rebate really does end today)

If grass/weeds are long enough, remove loader and mow front again (just to keep the dandelions in check)

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ... (y)

RS filling the feeders is never done is it?

Only when I say it is ... ;) (or when I run out of food to fill them with ...)

Glad to hear the good news regarding your woman ... (y)

You might want to consider buying one...they're not that expensive and you can use it at your leisure. IIRC, paid about $225 or so for mine...

Yeah ... your post and the video got me looking at them.

I was originally going to rent a tow-behind unit (about $55/day) until I found out the local rental place has a 3PH unit available as well as the tow-behind ones. Their website seems to indicate that while the company (Sunbelt Rentals) has both 48" and 60" units, this particular location appears to only have the 48" available.

At $100 a day (3PH unit) - or weekend as the case may be - I'd probably NOT be inclined to rent if the 48" was the only one available.

I did find in my research that there are some "fairly reasonable" (sub <$1000) 3PH 60" units being sold by TSC, Rural King, and others ... although it appears that they aren't currently available anywhere. Also read that the build quality is a little questionable. At any rate, that's a little beyond what I prefer to spend anyways right at this point in time.

Menards does have a tow-behind unit available ("Yardworks" brand) that is similar to yours, and with the 11% rebate, the price is pretty attractive ($169 after rebate) Looks like it will do up to a 3" coring depth and it comes with flat-free tires and a 2 year warranty.

My concerns are 1. the width (wider would be nicer, in terms of how long it takes - but then this isn't something ones does weekly either), 2. turning with the wheels up on the unit (not in "transport mode"), and 3. how well it will hold up doing this large of an area.

I guess worst-case, I wouldn't be out more than the cost of a couple of rentals if it doesn't hold up long term.

There are supposed to be three days of rain towards the end of this coming week, with total rainfall of around an inch ... so that might be a good time to see if it's wet enough to aerate it.

Need to take some samples and test the soil and figure out what amendments it needs. At a minimum, there are a couple of high areas which the topsoil tends to wash off of, so I'll probably do gypsum at least. Possibly lime as well, depending on the test results.

I've looking online for pallet forks now...both new and used. Looks like most are skid steer type mounting. I don't have that, but looking into my options

Good luck with the search ... I'm sure something will turn up ... (y)

Ted, pavers look great. I’m likely to just keep the 3/4 minus as floor.
This is my concept. Poor drawing perspective, but sufficient to work out initial material list based on 12 Suntuf polycarbonate 2ft panels. Likely use 1 3/8 top rail and tarp frame fittings.

David,

More about these "tarp frame fittings" if you could.

important on your greenhouse floors that you plan on getting water on them. I used plastic deck flooring versus pavers, just another idea and easier for me
to put down. My deck flooring was put down on 1/2 inch gravel and unless it rained more than in inch, had no problem.
More than an inch the water would collect inside the greenhouse but quickly drained.
So remember your drainage.

had a nice lunch with head of my church at her home and talked about reopening on Sunday.
Didn't get very far, got rewarded with being put on the reopening committee.

nice Saturday afternoon, had to drive back through Peddlers Village, a local tourist shopping spot and nice to see folks back on the sidewalks and
walking around. Everyone I saw was masked. My most direct route home took me right through the shopping center, with the parking lot on the right
and the stores on the left. And of course everyone has to cross the road on foot, which makes for some serious traffic backups in there.
In another month I'll likely take a slightly longer route to bypass the little town of Lahaska. Trees are very pretty out
but oh my is the pollen coming down in clouds now.
