Oh sure, NOW we see how you are!

Today I got a message from “Medicare”... it will be a few more years before I’m eligible for that.
Yet even though it was another scam, it still made me feel older than all of the letters I’ve been getting from the AARP for the last 12 years.

I don't answer calls unless I recognize the number.

Even though we joke about this a lot, these frigging scam calls are a real pita. My wife was getting so many (10-20 a day) that she just keeps her ringer turned off. She may as well not have a phone. I only seem to get them only when I am in the middle of doing something (like arc welding) where it is really inconvenient to just look at my phone to see if it is a legitimate call. Seems like someone could figure out a way to put an end to this nonsense.

My phone is for my convenience. If I'm in the middle of something and it's inconvenient they can leave a message. Then again if I'm not working, chances are the cell phone is in the truck or on the kitchen table. I tell people the same; don't pick up if you are busy. I'll call back later or leave a message if it's important.

My cell phone is ALWAYS off. I only turn it on to make a call. I try to remember to check every evening to see if a message has been left and is worthy of a return call.
