One of the first things dad built on his farm in the late 1940s was a pond.

Yeah, my dad was from the school where without a water supply, it wasnt a farm. Your pic looks so similar to what we had.
That you in the red windbreaker?

Austere, yet beautiful scenery Buckeyefarmer.
When were at Ohio University to see my daughter, I observed a lot of the winter backbone of S. Ohio.
Saw a lot of railroads-many abandoned, hills, old farmland, rivers....
Really, really beautiful. Must have been a thriving place 50+ years ago. My area suffering similar fate.

One of the 3 could be me. I think picture taken dec 24 1977, though grass seems pretty green for December.

Looks like we finally have some rain in the forecast. Next four days looks like a decent chance. At the moment it doesn't look like anything heavy but it's a start. Hopefully we will get enough to at least get the rest of the bottom covered. Used the last two 55 gallon drums I had today and a roll of 3" drain tile to make one more artificial habitat in a shallower area of the pond before things get wet.

If that should ever float to the surface you’ll be able to sell tickets. :alien:

It's Jeremy's Loch Ness Monster Brandi!!!!
I was hoping by now I would be able to post a pic of that monster poking his head out of the water but so far no luck. Just enough drizzle to make it miserable here.

Same here. Wind has really picked up this afternoon. Hasn't this been a terribly windy year?

It has been. A few people I know had shingle or siding damage last week from wind. 50 mph + gusts here today.

Fingers crossed this current track holds and doesn't break apart with daylight.

We are having our driest March on record, with only .003" of rain so far. That should be coming to an end when that front pushes north and soaks us tomorrow. (y) Unfortunately it's also going to bring 60 mph winds too.

The rain is here but not as heavy as I hoped. Still a steady rain and ground seems to be pretty saturated already. Just took a walk back to the pond and there is at least some runoff going in now. More rain forecast for tonight so hopefully at least the flats will be covered and moving up the banks after this one.

Time to start on the Ark?
Unfortunately the heavy rains never materialized. We gained about a foot of water. More on the way tonight so will check tomorrow.

I was thinking about you today when our rain didn't happen. They keep lowering the chances for tonight and tomorrow morning. Then we get another chance in a few days. Fingers crossed for ya.

Yep. Radar model looks like it may miss us completely now.

Still waiting on the rain here so decided to add a few more items while it was dry. Added another tree crossing and a couple more fish habitats from some old 6" to 10" firework mortars and stone from the dig. At some point I'll get some rock under the ends of my two log crossings to help keep it from rotting as quick.

I live in western Illinois I we aren’t close to you but not that far away, we have actually had quite a bit of rain, must have missed you. Nice looking fish structures, shame they will get covered up.
