Good morning!!!!

Same here Bird, I was looking for some baby tomato plants last weekend, then I heard about this weekend, and that cancelled those plans.

Hope y'all didn't make too big of a mess inside. :)

I just tested positive. Talking with the Physician's assistant, I've probably had it for a few days now. I feel fine. Oxygen at 97% (which is normal for me). Aside from a bit of congestion, I feel great. PA said I might just have cold like symptoms, as I seemed to be healthy. I have been taking Vitamin D3 and Senior vitamins for almost 2 weeks now. Glad I got the firewood chopped on Wednesday. My work has allotted me some extra Covid sick time, but the weather is too crappy to go do something productive outside for the next week.

I'm thankful I don't have an icy driveway with an incline. I am hoping our pond will freeze over, to kill the floating duckweed.

Someone said 30F is nothing. Maybe so, but when it's windy, and sleeting, feels like 25F I'll let them come hang outside and take out the garbage. Haha.

Eric, hope it's a female. They make much better long term mousers. That's why I invested in our "Waffles" orange and white kitty. She likes our barn.

Wifey is making Taco/Nachos today. We had homemade hamburgers yesterday.

All the best Kyle, and enjoy the Mexican food.

Don, other than the sudden slip and slide with keister landing?

TXDon, when you are driving along the road and the mist off the tires in front of you seems to disappear, look for a dull shine on the pavement. That will be black ice. Just take your foot off the throttle and let it slow down gradually. Don't try to turn or stop, cause it ain't gonna happen.

I love old muscle cars, and have had the fun of riding in many of them. But, I can't see paying what some do.....unless you have too much money, and you want to be able to ride around and enjoy your investment.

I would take the same $100K and buy a new vette, when they come out with the supercharged edition.

I only had one or two at a time, and since some were sold to buy others, I’ve never been near $100k investment at one time. I’m not JD Rockefeller. LOL

14 year old Gray2 says he's a better mouser than any girl.

29˚F. the Ice just won't melt. My truck got hit by flying ice from an "outside" car going down the road. I was going in the opposite direction when the sheet of ice flew off his roof, over 3 lanes and hit the hood and grill of my pickup.
No damage but you Northern guys did not warn me of flying ice and frozen mailboxes. Any non-obvious other hazards to watch out for?

Don’t get behind busses, vans tractor trailers and such.

"Three on the tree"!
That goes back a few years. I learned to drive a stick on an early '50's International pickup with a 4 speed...on the "tree", IIRC.
The only other 4 speeds on the column I've driven (and owned) was a SAAB model 96 with a 3 cylinder 2-stroke engine. Bought it off a Coast Guard Bo'suns Mate when I was in the Navy. Car was painted international orange and looked like a pumpkin with 4 wheels
I've always preferred manual transmissions, but on the floor, not the column. Tough to find 'em now though. My Tacoma has a 6 speed that can be automatic or manually shifted. I tend to use the manual shift when we get snow or ice.
Of course, I'm a tractor guy who's had 5 tractors and the first hydro transmission came home about three months ago...it's nice, but I'd still prefer a reverser transmission

We're looking at a total of 17-18 inches of snow next week...

daugen, look at the money you would save if you never got your haircut again.:D

That's my plan. My normal barber is one that goes around with his nose sticking out above his mask, and thumbing it at the health regulations. Why would I keep shooting the dice just to get a haircut when I can just let it grow for free?

You couldn't beat those old slant 6 engines. Brother had a 62 Plymouth with the slant 6 and 3spd on the column.

I had an 84 Dodge van slant six with manual 4 speed overdrive floor shift.
It was a back up second shop van for use when the big GMC was otherwise occupied. That thing would slow down in O/D if you had a 20 mph headwind, in order to maintain 55 you had to shift down to high gear.

Gray2 is an anomaly.

The northern guys didn't warn me to put my firewood stack on the southeast side of my home. It's on the northwest side, and every time I open the door to get a load.....WHOOOOOOSH...comes the cold blast. RNG, please put your biggest fan outside and point it Northwest!!! :)

Watched some movies. Someone had mentioned The Final Countdown, I'll give it a 6.5, We just watched SALT, with Angelina Jolie as a russky spy. I'll give it an 8.

Any other movies I need to watch?

Good info, thanks. I was getting gasoline and noticed ice on the ground, put one foot out and yes it was very hard and slippery, went to another pump on the south side. They have lower the predicted temperature for a fourth time for Nodic Tuesday - now it's predicted be -1˚F in central TX We are now at 48 hours below freezing.

No flag pole here Rick.

Ron, Whipper says there are hidden messages in "yellow snow" and must smell it a long time to figure it out.

Over 75 posts behind for today.

Snow still on the trees, not enough warmth to even drop the snow. Temp only changed 5° all day yesterday, and 6° today between low and high. We also set yrly low at 13° a couple nights ago.
But the roads were good today.

Long lines for gas at Costco after work, they are $2.21 while other nearby stations are $2.50s.

This weekends snow going south, we have weather advisory for tomorrow into Sunday.

Now to see what everyone else did.

48 here in SC this morning and raining again. Supposed to do that for the whole weekend and most of next week. My big farmer friend that I've been horse trading with bought 4 new 8000 gallon fuel tanks. He had a really good looking 500 gallon tank left that he gave me. I got it setup yesterday and ordered fuel which was delivered. Filled that tank and topped my 200 off. 600 gallons. I should be good for a while.

Yes another Randy, Randy. I'm Randy F.

I got two 275g tanks sitting in my barn I would give to someone. I used them for heating oil.

Kyle, sorry to hear you caught it. Keep taking those D3s and zinc. I vote for watching The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

BEF, only changed 2 degrees here today. $2.21 is good. Prices really jumped here last few weeks.

Don, watch for walking under trees when the ice gets heavy (branches suddenly break off, especially in an area like yours that hasn't seen ice in many years) and when the ice starts to melt (big chucks fall fast).

Atomic Blonde.

Cold War Fall of Berlin Wall spy movie.

MUCH better than Salt or Red Sparrow.

My wife and I both have an appointment Monday morning with a new doctor that we think we want to be our "primary care" doctor in the future. But we haven't met him yet. However, with snow forecast for the weekend, and maybe even Monday, I'll probably change that appointment to a later date.

Speaking of Drs, I last saw my Dr in August. He does blood work on me every 3-4 months. He retired last Oct, he told me to call in oct to get appointment with new Dr. when I called, they weren’t taking any patients, even though I was an existing patient, till a new Dr started in Jan. Called in Jan , got appointment for next Monday. Except they called me yesterday to cancel. Today I called to reschedule, they can’t see me till April. Friggin ridiculous.

Same boat. Different oar. Been looking for a new primary for over a month. Most referrals from friends are not taking new patients.
