Ha! Notice how the bitter cold goes around Michigan - we're well protected by the lakes as giant heat sinks. Does make it a bit cloudy here, though. I also hate bitter cold winds, BUT! We don't get below zero with winds. Has to be still air to get that cold here, so there's no real wind chill to speak of when its below or close to zero. 5f this morning and I could hardly tell.

You got my by quite a few years, the plan is to still be able to split when I'm in my 70's, hence why I'm trying to take care of my body now!

Shoulders have issues from doing push-ups at one point in my life, trying to avoid as many surgeries as possible in the future.

I was able to split by hand at 70 but I've had 2 major back surgeries since I turned 70 so no dice now to hand split.

This one bridged when it fell so it gives me more time to get to it. Once they hit the ground here with our moisture they rot fast. I am overloaded with firewood as it is. I have not settled on how I am going to cut that one yet given how it sits. Ideas are welcome.

I think that many of us use that trick. One bucketful will fill my woodbox and last about 3-5 days.

To each their own... I don't do well in 80 degree weather and every year I dread the coming of summer. You can't do everything from the comfort of your tractor...
