FIL passed away last week. My wife has been staying with her mother to help since last Friday, she came home for 3 hours last Sunday, and I took a drive down to their house last Weds.

My wife and I had to facetime for a common goal for the first time...

Last night, I went through the refrigerator while she informed me what to throw out and to put in the compost pile (which I did last night). Hey, I boil or microwave food.

Today, I had to walk her through all of her fathers guns to ensure they weren't loaded and they were safe to travel with.

The muzzle loaded and tube magazine confused her because I never her out back shooting with those LOL

We make a pretty good team:laughing:

I suspect that you've been married a while. I've noticed that those that are married for a while tend to compliment each other and fill in each other's weaknesses and work as a team instead of as individuals. Congratulations to your team.

I read in an economics textbook about 1000 years ago that a couple, a man and wife, both on the same page, working towards the same goal is the most efficient way to get anything done.

The key there is......on the same page.

Sorry to hear about your FIL. Its never easy.

I do 95% of the cooking even though I would rather do something else. But I'm pretty good at it non the less.

Friday evenings, my wife and I make dinner together. Play our favorite music, open a bottle of wine and we enjoy it very much. Its our way of connecting after a week of her working and me doing whatever I want

Sorry for your loss. My father-in-law passed away a couple months ago right before Thanksgiving (heart issues and dementia). My wife is "the responsible one" out of all of her siblings and we are taking care of helping her mother through this time as well. Fortunately, we are only a few miles from her. Wife and I are similar in that we compliment each other. We have been together for about 42 years. We have several couples that we hang around with (not for the past 9 months) that are similar. All have been together for long, long time and compliment each other.

My father-in-law was 93. Mother-in-law is 80. They still have several couples that they have hung around with since the mid sixties. Almost 60 years of friendship. We are friends with those couples' children. We all consider each other family. One of the old dudes passed away last year. Now my father-in-law. As they go, and we age, we become the old couples.

Nothing brings a smile to my face like seeing an old couple holding hands. :)

Yeah, it is nice when one starts a meal, or other task, and the other - without saying anything - begins to fill in where needed and soon together it seamlessly gets done.

On the other hand, once when my wife was away visiting our daughter she called to remind me to water the house plants. My response - genuinely - was "We have house plants?"

Sorry for your loss.
On another note: Funny how language is generational and can form (or reflect) thought.
Many younger people now see the phrase ‘man and wife’ as patriarchal; and would insist on more egalitarian phrasing like ‘man and woman’ or ‘husband and wife’. (Ignoring what order they’re listed in).
I don’t know about that, just words I guess. I guess I use ‘man and wife’ as an old habit, or from a biblical context.
I must be sexist because it would sound weird to me, maybe even degrading, if someone described the couple next door, or us, as a “woman and husband.”
...that’s all folks...
