Tractor
Kubota - MX5400 DTC
The New Machine arrived today! ! !

Thanks for all the advice, help, info, and encouragement. There are SO many Newbie threads asking, "What kind of tractor should I get -- How big -- Etc. -- Etc. . . And yep, I was one of them. But just know this, Y'all Really Helped me. I've never owned a tractor, and knew not what I was doing. Sometimes the Newbie posts seem silly to some veterans of whatever forum you're on, but it is veteran advice that we are looking for. So, Thanks SO Very Much! ! !

It sure was good mowing my pastures with My Own Machine. And I made the right choice getting the cab, I tell ya what! ! !

I'm sure I will be posting more questions, but for now. . . Thanks for all your help!

Nice tractor
How do you like the standing seam roof? Is it noisy in heavy rain?

I'm guessing that's a 54HP tractor ? I have the mx5100 HST. it's been a solid tractor
However it was too light for other task I had and had to buy a larger heavier tractor.
Yours being a cab tractor, you should have plenty of weight.

I think they have pretty much gotten many of the emissions issues that plagued new tractors for some time under control

The roof is Great! ! ! Nope, it is NO noisier than a composition roof. It was expensive when building, but I知 glad we did it.

Thanks. Having a hard time selling it to customers-they think it’s going to be too loud in heavy rain.

I almost bought one but the quote and methodology turned me off. They wanted a couple grand more than a top of the line shingle job and wanted to just put it over my existing roof. Florida code says if it's not removed and renailed to current code it doesn't count as a new roof.

Glad I didn't buy metal because I have an oak tree behind the house. I have some friends that went metal under and oak tree and they can't sleep when the acorns are falling.

On my shingle roof I had the whole thing ripped off and some plywood underlayment replaced. Re nailed to current code with full peel and stick barrier and topped with 30 year shingles. Also had a wind mitigation inspection. All for two grand cheaper than the standing seam roof quote.

Haaaaaa! ! ! Yeah, rain and acorns are two different animals:laughing::laughing: I could hear those acorns falling on a neighbor’s house in my old neighborhood, before moving to the country. But I gotta say, for rain it’s not been an issue. And of course, we love the look.

Congrats on your new rig. Remember to check the torque on all of your wheel lugs, check the tightness of all of the bolts you can find, grease every nipple, (lanolin) spray lubricate anything that moves that doesn't have a nipple, verify all fluid levels and read your Owner Manual (twice). :)

Interesting placement of the diesel fuel cap... is that a secondary cap with a more accessible tank filling position?

A corrugated metal roof is fairly standard here in Aus... the other (more Northern, hotter areas) is terracotta tile. Shingles is pretty much unheard of. It's a wonderful sound; rain on the roof. :)

Funny, we have the same tractor and same roof. Could be same color.

I have 2 roofs going in, 1400 sf rancher and 1300 sf garage/shop/apt. Both standing seam, both hip roofs. I think the hip roofs make it much more time consuming.

It's taken them forever to finish, 2 more days if they ever come back. There may be other methods but, the method they use is very very labor intensive. Lots of cutting and bending.

I'm paying by the job so other than the time, the price is fixed.

I had 8 in of foam insulation blown onto the underside of the roof. My guy says i won't hear a Thing?

Foundation to shingles & everything in between since 1990! (General contractor)
Farmer, too!
Oh and we maintain a large housing development, so theres that, too.
And did I mention snowplow 25 driveways and parking lots? :D

Great looking tractor and congratulations! The next thing you'll learn is how to park it with the wheels down.

Love the smell of a new seat. Nice rig, the fuel cap makes me cringe though. I'm too old to be hoisting cans up there to fill up.

Yep. . . Got the tractor yesterday around 3:00, started mowing around 4:00. Mowed till 7:30ish. Got up this morn at 6:30 and mowed till 5:30. I had to heft the 5 gallon can 3 times to fill up. The guy who put the tank on top should be drawn and quartered. Trying to keep from scratching my new machine, or spilling diesel on it made the task even harder. My back is Killin' me! ! ! Had to get all the mowing done as we are expecting 5" of rain over the next 2 days. Ground is gonna be wet for a while. There's got to be an easier way for the fuel! I did get this cool siphon thingy that you jiggle and it creates a siphon, but my can had a filter in it that was part of the can, and I couldn't snake in the siphon hose. I will get some new cans, but I will still have to heft the can up to the top, and try to keep from scratching the machine.

So, the Cab is A-Ma-Zing! ! ! There's no way I could have sat on that seat for so long in an open cab. My allergies are so bad, and the weeds were also so bad, and the dust, and the wind. So Yeah, the Cab is the best extra $7K I ever spent.
