My sidewalk snow weapon...

I know the feeling. A few years ago, had a friend use a beach towel for traction to get his truck unstuck in my driveway. Left the towel and drove off without telling me. The following morning , 18 inches of snow later, and I would have kicked his a*s if he was standing nearby when that frozen towel wrapped around both stages of my snow blower. Not fun at all.

Don't tell my wife, but I'm wishing for snow! We've not gotten anything more than a dusting in SW Michigan thus far this winter.

Why am I wishing for snow? I replaced my venerable John Deere 325 Garden Tractor (22 years of great service) with the 42 snow thrower last August with a John Deere X584 AWS and a 47 snowblower!

While the single stage 42 snow thrower did the job, I was always thinking I'd like to be able to throw the snow farther. So, I'm looking forward to seeing what the 2 stage 47 Snowblower will do.

In keeping with the theme of this thread (pictures), here is one:

It always amazes me that those small tractors with front mount blowers work so well and blow the snow as far as they do. They must run the fan speed much higher than 540 rpm in order to get a small diameter fan to throw that far.

I have no clue how fast its spinning. In the light non packed snow, it was throwing 40 ft-ish. It sounds more like a mower whirring than my old International blower setup. You got me thinking of hitting it with an optical tach just to see how fast its spinning.

Bolt down some rubber belting strips on your impeller blades and really watch the snow fly.

That was ALL ME. My winter is off to a roaring start.

Don't know exactly where in Maryland you are, but you probably didn't need the blower anyway.

I'm in Kingsville, MD and was all excited to use my front mount blower on 12" of snow.

But in my area, we only got 2". Soooo disappointed...... :.(
