good morning all.
34 in fog going up to 57 today in clouds.

thoroughly enjoyed my pulled pork sandwich for dinner last night, Popgadget made it nice and smoky, couldn't be better.
All birdhouses delivered, spent some time with friend next to outside firepit later in afternoon until the light faded and then time for home.
Off at 7am this morning to get an mri, then back to work in woodshop.

Hope Sophie's eyes improve David.
Good thoughts sent Toppop's way, sounds like he needs some cheering up.

have an appt to get car detailed next Thursday, might get cancelled, 8 inches of snow predicted at the moment for Wednesday into Thursday.
That will probably shut the place down. Looks like combo of rain and snow, but very cold temps makes snow a realistic forecast.
Need to call my lawn guy and remind him to put me on his snow plow list.
Ho ho ho

Hope you all have a nice weekend.

hmmm, forecast now raised to a foot of snow on Wednesday. It's been a while for me...

50F and mostly cloudy @ 05:15.

Amazon did deliver on the butyl tape and jigsaw blade for the cement board - just not early enough to do any cutting. I did get the cement board moved around back onto the sawhorses. Will need to move that inside here in a bit, as rain is headed in.

The Woman's stuff is due in today, along with the aluminum tile flange.

Moved old stove out of kitchen onto to a pallet and got it moved over to the barn, had to remove door from hallway into kitchen to get it out. Hinge pins came out a lot easier this time around (I lubed them when I took it off to bring the new stove in ...)

Brought roll of 6 mil visqueen over to the house from the barn and rolled it out and cut off a piece to use to line the shower under the backer board then took it back on next load. Snagged a fairly straight 2 x 4 to replace one in the shower wall that is badly twisted at the bottom.

Also got MMM moved over to the barn and put away, along with longest water hose, a roll of geo grid and some scrap metal.

Another 4 bucketloads of crusher run added to upper driveway and more or less spread out. Needs more fine-tuning though.

Set another rebar on the corner up by the shed to keep somebody from cutting the corner and driving on my lawn ... need to check and make sure I brought the sledgehammer back down ...

Cleared the leaves that had accumulated around the front of the house with the Stihl blower.

Have a fairly regular momentary loss of power in the circuit that feeds the kitchen lights and wall outlets in the living room ... hopefully just a breaker going bad. High priority on figuring out what is going on with that.

Major item on agenda for today is to get old toilet emptied and pulled.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe Saturday ...

Good morning, the temperature is 24°F and the high will be 27. Wind NE 11 mph. Snow.
Here is the entire weather warning with metric values translated into real temperatures;
Warnings

4:54 AM EST Saturday 12 December 2020
Snowfall warning in effect for:

North Bay - Powassan - Mattawa
West Nipissing - French River

Snowfall with total amounts of 6-10" is expected.

Hazards:
6-10" of snow
Poor visibility in heavy and local blowing snow
Poor road conditions due to accumulating and local blowing snow

Timing:
Snow will begin this morning and taper off overnight or Sunday morning. The heaviest snow is expected this afternoon and evening.

Discussion:
A snowstorm will bring 6-10" of snow this weekend. Snow will begin this morning, but the heaviest snow is expected in the afternoon and evening hours when snowfall rates of 1" per hour will be possible. Gusty northeast winds to 35 mph will combine with fresh snow to create blowing and drifting snow, particularly in exposed areas. For areas near and south of North Bay, freezing rain is also a possibility tonight.

Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Take frequent breaks and avoid strain when clearing snow.

It looks like it will be wet, sloppy heart attack snow. The kids will love it! Nice packing snow, real good for snow forts and snowball fights.

Have a safe day all

I find my battery powered one more useful (and used)

Ridgid makes one JobMax with changeable head.

Hard to argue with the convenience of battery-operated tools.

The only battery operated ones we have here are a Black and Decker hedge trimmer and 3/8 drill - both are very handy.

I think the hedge trimmer is 18v and the drill is 12v. (That reminds me I have some tulip bulbs I need to get planted before the ground totally freezes ...)

Have not had to replace the battery yet on the hedge trimmer. Had two batteries for the drill that eventually went bad and bought three new ones for it, which I had to do through the local Black and Decker service center.

Have tried to make a point of keeping them charged up since those first two went bad.

I hope you left about 2" above the ground, that way you WILL find out who is driving on your lawn. Might co$t them a tire, but who cares about that? People that don't respect other peoples property deserve to pay.

Back when we had hydro meter readers come around monthly I caught one parking on my lawn, he didn't come back after I accosted him with the 12 ga. Never pointed it at him, he just needed to see it.
