I wouldn't be surprised but this was the boomer many people heard yesterday.

"Witnesses across the area reported hearing the boom or seeing a fireball in the sky shortly after noon on Wednesday, said Robert Lunsford of the American Meteor Society in Geneseo. By 4 p.m., the organization had recorded 78 reports of the fireball seen in Maryland, Michigan, New York, Ontario, Pennsylvania and Virginia."

Also on the subject of snow tires as I didn't see any good place to put this.
For any of you that swap your own tires back and forth or just rotate them,
on my wifes little Jeep Compass for some reason they used lug bolt instead of studs and lug nut.
These are a hub centric wheel and with no wheel studs to help line up the wheels to the hubs can be a royal pain to get set on the wheel hub and lined up to start the lug bolts,
I went to my hardware store and bought a couple of long metric bolts remove the hex head and cut a screwdriver slot in the end.
the Jeep wheel hub;

the wheel hub showing a stock lug bolt and the two studs I made, I screwed the studs in 4-5 turns, then used them to line up the wheel to the hub,
slide the wheel over the studs, start 3 lug bolts remoce the studs and put in the last 2 lug bolts. Took several minutes of bending down and trying to line up blind holes to just a couple of screwing in the studs hanging the wheel and removing the studs. Didn't even cuss Jeep once when putting her already mounted snow tires on.

My Buddy replaced the bolts with studs and nuts, used Loctite on the studs into the rotors.

We've been buying mostly Envy or Honeycrisp apples lately.

I haven't bought anything but the Honeycrisp lately. I think they're as good as it gets.

The use case is when the gas engine on the generator hiccups and kicks off, leaving the propane to keep flowing into the carb. In general I'd notice that happening, but all the time spent on that generator over the past two summers has shown me that sometimes I'm inside doing something that doesn't need electricity and I can't hear the engine stop. Happens when I'm outside on the other side of the property, too. Not a big deal since I make it a point to only run the genny when I'm awake, and usually in the daytime. But now it'll be hooked up to the 1000 gallon tank, and I for sure don't wanna run the risk of a forgetful moment wasting a lot of propane.

I like the idea of a solenoid and a relay, Paul. Thanks!

Keep in mind that the propane doesn’t flow if the engine isn’t running. The regulator on the engine maintains 0 pressure, it depends on suction from the Venturi in the carb to draw the gas into the engine. So you would need a failure of the zero regulator for there an issue when the engine quits, although it isn’t likely that the engine would run if the regulator stuck open free flowing gas.
If it doesn’t sit around totally unsupervised for long periods, you would be fine without the solenoid. Although I would likely do it myself just because I like to tinker. If you decide to proceed, PM me, I likely have a surplus 12v shutoff.

I did a homemade conversion on a Honda twin, and was astounded at what a narrow range of mixture that propane would run on.
Unlike gasoline which runs best at approx 14-1, but will run on either side at a wide margin. Propane has to be spot on or it doesn’t fire.

Entirely possible.

I have a relative who is a driver/manager for an Amazon delivery contractor will check with them.

Also possible that both your and Paul's situations as far as how/where the package delivered was reported to Amazon could have been an inadvertent error on the part of whoever delivered it ... ;)
Got an email that popped up on my phone from Amazon that some packages were delivered.

Found them in the middle of the driveway.

Glad the rain had stopped.

I have noticed the same lax with deliveries.
Most are brought up to the house by UPS,
FedEx will shove many of there deliveries in the mail box.
And of course the USPS uses the mailbox for anything that fits.
But especially FedEx will state given to homeowner when they shoved it in the mailbox,
even with signature required packages.
Just the other day I had a delivery that was supposed to require an adults signature,
FedEx left it in the mailbox and said it was given to me.
(Oh, by the way I have one of the really large rural delivery boxes so some good sized packages fit)
My normal mail carrier and usual UPS drivers are excellent,
they are both waiting for me to put my winter package tote down at the foot of the driveway,
save them the 1/4 mile driveway.

Drew,
Always turn off master before plugging in generator. That would be first step to disconnect street power!

i understand the comments but wonder if you all realize there is a mechanical interlock at play here. Either the street power is live or the generator is live, can't be both.
There is a mechanical safeguard that allows the inlet breaker to be in only one position so it is impossible for both circuits to be live at one time. There are two "masters", a street master and a generator master, the generator being a special separate 50 amp breaker. It can't be energized unless the street power is turned off and the interlock slid into position allowing the movement of the
generator master to turn on. And vice versa. Even if both were live at the same time, there must be one master turned off, two can't be on at the same time.
However...I can change the order of the instructions.

I sent these instructions to electrician and he signed off on them, but if in interest of safety a belt and suspenders approach is helpful, fine.

I'm wondering what the world will look like when we finally crawl out of our hole. I heard the other day that one of the independent pharmacies bit the dust this summer. They say that the pharmacist got pretty rude towards the end. I won't be surprised if there are a lot of empty stores by then.

Weather Guessers can't seem to make up their minds about the snowfall on Saturday...it went from 2.5" to 3" to 5.5", then 6.6 inches, now down to 1.9"...all today!
I reckon there's not much use reviewing the 10 day forecast
I understand there's some uncertainty on how the storm will track...further west, we get hammered...further east, not as much. I guess I may as well forget looking at the extended forecast, but I'm hoping for at least 6"...

Got my snow tires...Sumitoro Arctic Claws, 10 ply...based upon a co-worker (who also has a Tacoma) recommendation...pretty aggressive tread. Time will tell how they hold up...
Also, I asked if they had a replacement tire for the one I hit the chain saw wrench with...they did! My local guy couldn't find one in 5-6 weeks. Guess he didn't look hard enough. Anyway, I bought that tire too. The snow tires are mounted and the others are in the bed of the truck...I'll make room in one of my outbuildings or basement for them. I figure I'll get wheels for them sometime this winter rather then put them on the rims the snow tires are on.
