Good morning!!!!

Good morning to all! Low of 18, only going up to 30 for a high. Off and on light snow all day, so the 2" we have so far will only get deeper. Tomorrow the high is forecasted for 33, so until the sun comes out, no melting for sure.

Dang ... that's chilly.

Sun finally came out here ... has already managed to warm the windshield on the van enough that the snow has slid off.

I'll head out in a few and hit it with the brush to clean it off good for the all the running around that's coming up in the next few days.

RS, I have one of the HF 7" table tile saws, 7 in. Portable Wet Cut Tile Saw
It is at least 15 years old, used for remodeling of 3 bathrooms, kitchen floor and 26' of counter and backsplash, and living room in the old house, then the full bathroom, tub surround, laundry room sink, and kitchen backsplash in the new cottage. Probably well over 1K sq ft of tile cut with that saw.
To me it has paid for itself many times over, on its second blade (not HF). Use it for every cut, I don't even own a manual tile cutter!

The only issue I have had with it occurred last summer... I went to pull the plastic water tray out, and it just cracked in a few pieces. Easily replaced with a small tupperware tray we had. I was surprised that the tray broke, becoming so brittle.... but if was 15 years old too....

Thanks ... the HF units are seeming like a decent, economical option - that's very good to know.

Sorry to hear about the deck boards ... have had similar issues.

Have junked - or still need to junk - probably between 800 to 1000 sq. ft of PT deck boards here ... never again ...

Luther, sorry for your loss of someone close.

Harbor Freight is trying to send me a second 12" sliding mitre saw after I cancelled the first online order, in writing, several weeks ago as item was backordered with no ETA.
They seemed to have ignored me and are sending this giant heavy box anyway. Made a big sign on front door saying REFUSED to Fedex guy, will see if that accomplishes anything.
Sure not going to order anything online from them anymore. They confirmed they got my request to cancel weeks ago (I found the saw at a local store) but said my letter was only a request and not guaranteed. What nonsense. Hopefully the refusal will work, rain is coming later this week and not like I can leave this huge heavy box outside. I had to have help getting box into and out of car, not something I can do by myself, so this is pretty aggravating. The saw works great but I sure don't need two of them...

Full moon was very pretty this morning, nice seeing the photos here.

Maybe a threat to put hold on credit card? Will they prepay return? Label and leave on step for pickup?

21°F and clear skies, going up to 48° today.

Condolences to you and your family, Luther.

104°F ... so, I'm guessing there's not much chance of a white Christmas down under again this year, eh Doug?

The Woman asked if they were good eating ...

When I stayed with my grand parents during the summer (50+ years ago) we would have squirrel for lunch. Grandma would fry it up. Taste like chicken only smaller - especially the drumsticks. Just think chicken when you eat it and not rat.

Agree with RNG - on a wet saw always put the pump in a fresh water bucket and empty the recycle tray ever so often. My HF wet saw is still working after thousands of paver cuts.

Hope everyone is OK as we are. 50 deg F at 5.00 a.m. this morning. Cloudy, but that will clear as the sun rises and we are in for another stinker.
Another day inside. Really need an air-conned cab on my tractor so I can do stuff. About time I put the flail mower back on to tidy the paddocks. This time of year the gums shed their bark and it makes a terrible mess but the flail cleans it up. Gums are dangerous. Branches just break and crash down unexpectedly. One of my neighbours trees came down a couple of days ago and another huge branch along the road but at least it didn't fall on the road. Gums are called widowmakers here as many people killed with them over the years. Did I mention I hate gum trees? Sadly they are the dominant species in Oz.
Anyway, hope you all have a great day.

David, Ted, RS, Dennis, Paul, RNG and others, you guys have amazing talents, I could only dream of being as handy as you.

A foot of snow Bill  I'll be happy to send you all of mine...;)

built two birdhouses this morning, got two shipped out by UPS, dimensions don't work for prepaid boxes, so have to pay 13 bucks each to get them wrapped and boxed.
Hopefully they will arrive in one piece. The one I shipped to my sister a week ago still hasn't gotten there.
All the rest I will hand deliver locally.

ran the one 30# propane tank dry while heating the garage, came back to garage after short trip to house
and very heavy odor of propane, not sure why it didn't cut off. Needless to say did nothing in there until
I totally vented the garage. Then took the tank and got it refilled. Totally uninsulated garage so sucks up the heat.

big sign made for front door saying to Fedex I was refusing the HF package. Have no idea if it will work, feel a little bad for driver but
my back would feel way, way worse dealing with it. And I can't leave it outside for pickup because rain is in forecast. I remember box was
clearly labeled Team Carry. Just too heavy for me, thankfully the store loaded the box at their end and my neighbor helped me drag it into garage.
Assuming the hospital is still open for elective surgery in February, I'm headed for more titanium rods and screws then and really don't want to be flat on my back
for the holidays.

43 out, feels like 36 with 10-20mph winds at times. They say this is supposed to be another warm winter here, fine with me.

time to go horizontal with my book

Mowing done 🤙

Garden refused to some pepper plants and 2 eggplant. Hereabouts people grow Hawaiian chili peppers as potted plants. Will be interesting to see how these peppers do left in ground.

My 1st saw was this MK from Home Depot
IMG_2117.JPG
Still have it

A friend sold me his Husky similar to this

https://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGID-9-Amp-Corded-7-in-Wet-Tile-Saw-with-Stand-R4031S/307346631

This is what I used for all the work here as I used larger tiles that were too big for old saw.

It's funny you should say that ... because that's what The Woman jokingly said when we were discussing it this morning.

What's funny about it is she loves chicken ... she rarely eats any fish or seafood, and her beef consumption is pretty limited ... although she does like meatloaf, beef stew, and a good burger every now and then. Pork is alright as well. But given a choice she'll take the chickin' ...

Every. Single. Time.

Personally, I would have absolutely no aversion to eating squirrel ... her ? ... probably not so much ... although ... she'd probably love it ... if I gave it to her and told her it was chicken ... :D

Not that I would or anything ...

Agree with RNG - on a wet saw always put the pump in a fresh water bucket and empty the recycle tray ever so often. My HF wet saw is still working after thousands of paver cuts.

I think I'm starting to see a consensus emerge ... :D

That's great info ... thanks for sharing it ...

Drew,

I have to say that I'm really liking your bird houses so far (with the two you've posted pictures of) ... particularly with the last one that I saw with the single slope on the roof.

On the Fedex package, I'm sure you can refuse it ... and that shouldn't be a problem for the driver in any way (other than the fact that they probably would prefer not to unload it only to have to put it back in the truck ...)

As long as your sign is clearly visible, I would think it shouldn't be an issue.

FWIW, the driver shouldn't get in any trouble for you not accepting it or anything like that.
