I am assuming that you got the ripper shanks ? Looks like a decent box blade.

the ground up here rarely need scarification, pretty much everyone has them removed. I did get 4 teeth BUT, they're not like ones that I've seen before.



honestly, I can't yet see how they mount.

its pretty beefy... i used the tractor to lift it out of the trailer..

JT - i live a bit north of you in the Mojave, and while the top 6" or so is loose blow sand, below that it turns to concrete. Hope it works for you. If not, you can sell it for $$$$ as implements out here are as scarce as hens teeth.

The picture you show is a shank for a cultivator not your box blade. If he does not have the right ones those will cost you another 40 or so bucks a piece.

Years ago I gave up looking for used implements. They just do not exist in these parts. I have a 6' ROBB. If I take too deep a cut - it can stop my Kubota. The tractor weighs - 10,100# but it easily digs four "wheel holes". And R-1's dig holes real fast.

"TOO BIG" is a relative matter. If the soil is loose - sand - you can take a deeper bite. If it's rock hard clay - use the scarifiers and take a shallow bite.

I find that my hydraulic top link( FitRite ) is most helpful with the box blade and all other land engagement implements.

Another important consideration - is your 3-point rated to lift the weight of the box blade.

I thought as much, but it's OK. As I said, the ground here doesn't really need to be scarified, it's easy to work. It's what the county calls "expansive". Basically its sand/gravel/DG thats come down from the mountains. Ive dug down 15' for septic systems and it's the same all the way. The perc is so good you dont even need leach lines, just a vault is more than enough. Everyone in my area either has the scarifiers mounted upside or removed completely. The local tractor supply has them in stock and they're dusty from sitting
My wife loved the cultivators the moment she saw them.. I have no doubt they'll end up as some sort of "farm art"

I'm going to mount the blade today or tomorrow and see how it does. my last one didn't have the hinged rear blade.. not quite sure how that works...

Be EXTREMELY careful lifting that much weight that high. Very short distances (no more than a few feet) straight forward or back only. NO turning and definitely not if in 4WD. The front axle and associated parts won't like it and they can get expensive.

You definitely need a counter weight. And I'm sure there is a rule of thumb for the weight but you manual or dealer should be able to advise you.

I made mine from a 55gal plastic drum, black pipe and filled it with rocks and concrete. It's 650+ lb. My backhoe is 1,200 lbs and a very good counter weight.
